How was your experience of stepping into the film world with Emraan Hashmi?
It was wonderful. Working with Emraan Hashmi was a huge learning experience for me. In the film, my character is that of a “second wife,” but she has not been portrayed in a negative light. She is emotional, sensible, and a woman trying to find her own space. Sayra is a very gentle and honest character—she is not a “villain.”

Playing a sensitive role like Sayra, a ‘second wife,’ must have been challenging. What difficulties did you face?
It was very challenging. I tried to understand the character in depth. Before the audition, I wrote down Sayra’s thought process—what she might be thinking and why. I even chose her clothes myself, imagining how she would look and what colors she would wear. When I went for the audition, my director said, “You’ve come as Sayra.” That was the biggest compliment for me.

Did you try to understand the real-life aspects of the story before getting into the character?
Yes, absolutely. I had heard about this case earlier, but while preparing for the film, I read about it in much more detail. It helped me understand the character’s pain, her limitations, her courage, and her background.
There are varied opinions in society on issues like alimony. From what perspective does the film address this issue, and what is your personal view?
I believe alimony completely depends on circumstances. If a woman is independent and earning on her own, then there may be no need for it. But if she is dependent, then it is absolutely right. Every case is different, so the decision should be made accordingly.

How was your experience working with the director and the entire team?
It was truly amazing. My director is a very warm person. He never made me feel that this was my first project. He gave me the freedom to express my emotions and add my own thoughts to the character. I observed and learned everything on set.
Do you think this role breaks the stereotype that models are limited only to glamorous roles?
I feel very fortunate myself. The character in Haq was very different from my glamorous world. It was challenging and gave me a new identity as an actor. I wanted my first role to show not just my beauty, but also my acting ability.

Which directors and actors would you like to work with in the future?
The list is quite long! I would love to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Shoojit Sircar. I really admire their style of storytelling. Among actors, it is my dream to work with Vicky Kaushal, Ranbir Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Shah Rukh Khan.
