Genelia said, “I auditioned three times for this film. Aamir Khan Productions has its own unique process for selecting actors, and I was selected through the same. When people found out that I was doing an Aamir Khan film, everyone said, ‘Wow, you’re so lucky!’ And yes, I truly believe it’s Aamir sir’s greatness that he saw something in me and trusted me. But you know what — you too can offer me a role, right? Opportunities should be available to everyone.”

Right casting makes powerful cinema

She further added, “When we cast an actor who is much younger than the character, they often miss the subtleties of the role. That’s why it’s so important to cast actors who match the character’s age, experience, and depth.”

Questions the industry's mindset

In the interview, Genelia also pointed out a troubling pattern in the film industry — that married actresses are often overlooked. She said, “People think a married woman may not suit certain roles. But filmmaking has evolved now. If a character demands a certain age, then cast someone of that age. If you cast someone younger, they may not be able to bring the same nuance.”
