“Three Rounds of Auditions Before I Got the Role”

Genelia shared, “I gave three auditions for this film. Aamir Khan Productions has its own process for casting, and I was selected through that. When people found out that I was doing an Aamir Khan film, everyone said, ‘Wow, you’re so lucky!’ I agree, it was gracious of Aamir sir to believe in me and see something in me. But others could offer me roles too, right? Everyone deserves opportunities.”

The Importance of Right Casting for Powerful Cinema

She added, “When an actor much younger than the character is cast, they often fail to capture the nuances. That’s why it’s important to cast someone with the right age, experience, and understanding.”

Raising a Question on the Industry

Genelia also pointed out how sometimes married actresses face hesitation when it comes to casting. “People assume a married woman might not fit certain roles. But filmmaking has evolved now. If a role requires a certain age group, someone of that age should be cast. If you cast someone too young, they won’t grasp the finer points of the character.”
