“If Not Romance in Real Life, Then at Least in Reel Life”: Kartik Aaryan Says at Tu Meri Main Tera Trailer Launch

The makers of the much-talked-about romantic film Tu Meri Main Tera, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, unveiled the trailer on December 18. The film is set to release on Christmas, December 25, and promises a light-hearted, fun-filled romantic comedy. Directed by Sameer Vidwans and produced by Karan Johar, the trailer launch event was attended by Kartik, Ananya, producer Karan Johar, and Dharma Productions’ CEO Apoorva Mehta.

Star Cast Looks

At the event, lead stars Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday grabbed attention as they struck the film’s signature pose. Kartik looked suave and stylish in a crisp white shirt paired with tailored black trousers. His simple yet sharp look perfectly complemented the film’s breezy romantic vibe.

Ananya Panday, on the other hand, appeared stunning in a black slip dress featuring delicate polka dots and lace detailing. Her look was a beautiful blend of classic elegance and modern sensuality. Producer Karan Johar was also seen alongside the lead stars, sporting a dark outfit layered with a monochrome jacket that reflected his signature style.

Kartik Shares His Experience

During the trailer launch, Kartik Aaryan shared several experiences related to the film. He said working with choreographer Remo D’Souza was a lot of fun for him. Kartik also expressed his happiness about being part of songs composed by artists like Vishal–Shekhar, Jubin Nautiyal, and Lucky Ali.

When asked about being part of the film, Ananya Panday said, “I really love films like this. Most of these kinds of films have been written by Karan Johar, and even the lines of this film are written by him. Working on this project was a lot of fun—everything was perfect.” She added that she enjoys doing such films and would love to continue working in similar projects.

Kartik, in a humorous tone, added, “If I’m not getting romance in real life, then reel life will do.”

During the trailer launch of Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri, Mayapuri Magazine journalist Shilpa Nalamwar asked Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday about the immense love the film’s songs are receiving on social media. She pointed out that their chemistry and Kartik’s dance hook steps go viral every time, and asked what the secret behind it was.

Responding honestly, Kartik said, “The biggest reason behind our chemistry is our friendship and professional behavior. Our attitude toward each other has never changed. On set, we are exactly the same as we are in real life, even in front of the camera. Maybe that honesty reaches the audience.”
Praising Ananya, Kartik added, “Ananya has become quite mature now. She’s very dedicated, punctual, and completely focused on every scene. Honestly, seeing her professional growth, I can’t help but praise her.” Reacting playfully, Ananya laughed and said, “Even if it’s a lie.”

Talking about his dance and hook steps, Kartik joked, “I dance with my whole body, but people only notice the footwork.” He credited choreographer Remo D’Souza, saying, “Remo sir has created brilliant and precise steps for every song—whether it’s Talwinder’s track, Lucky Ali sir’s song, or even the unreleased ones shown in the trailer. The story of the film moves forward with the music, and getting a chance to dance to such amazing songs is a matter of pride for me.”

Apoorva Mehta Speaks

Shilpa’s next question was directed at Apoorva Mehta, asking what excited Dharma Productions the most about backing this film. Apoorva replied that under Karan Johar’s leadership, Dharma Productions has always advocated making films across various genres, but for some reason, audiences love them the most for romantic comedies. This genre is very special to the company as well.

He thanked Dharma’s acquisition and distribution team for bringing the film to them and said that the coming together of the entire team was the project’s biggest strength. He added that the biggest silver lining was working with Kartik Aaryan for the first time and Ananya Panday’s fresh energy. The entire team is extremely excited about this collaboration.

Karan Johar Praises Kartik Aaryan

Filmmaker Karan Johar showered praise on Kartik Aaryan, highlighting his dedication and commitment to cinema. Karan said, “Kartik doesn’t just act in a film; he becomes a part of the entire team.” He shared that Kartik often works like an assistant or even a supportive producer to make the film better.
Sharing a personal anecdote, Karan said, “I honestly don’t know when Kartik sleeps. I have received his missed calls at 1 am, 2 am, 3 am, 4 am, 5 am, and even 6 am. He’s constantly working.” According to Karan, Kartik’s involvement goes beyond shooting—he actively participates in music sessions, editing rooms, and marketing discussions as well.

“He always puts the director first and the film above everything else,” Karan added, calling Kartik a “remarkable guy” who truly deserves his success because of his hard work, discipline, and genuine love for cinema.

Karan on Homebound

Talking about his film Homebound and its Oscar journey, Karan said, “It’s a huge honor for me. I’m very grateful for the selection process that gave us the opportunity to become India’s official entry at the Academy Awards. We’ve worked to the best of our ability, and now being in the top 15 is a big achievement in itself.”

He added, “We’re now hoping and praying that Homebound makes the country proud and secures a final nomination.” Karan also mentioned that only a few Indian films—Mother India, Salaam Bombay!, and Lagaan—have previously received nominations, while Water was nominated from Canada. The 2023 Gujarati film Chhello Show was the last Indian film to make it to the selection list.
