The Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) hosted a very productive meeting with senior officials from the Bihar State Film Development & Finance Corporation (BSFDFC), marking a crucial step towards fostering growth and collaboration in Bihar’s film industry. The delegation consisting of Shri Dayanidhan Pandey, IAS, Secretary of the Art, Culture & Youth Department and MD of BSFDFC, along with Shri Rahul Kumar, IAS, Director of Museums and GM of BSFDFC, visited IMPPA office, where the meeting was attended by prominent producers and important members from the film fraternity including Shri Anil Sharma, Ms. Poonam Dhillon, Shri Kamal Mukut, Shri Mukesh Rishi, Shri Tinu Desai, and Shri Dhanpat Kothari.
Representing IMPPA were Executive Committee Members, including President Shri Abhay Sinha, Ms. Sushama Shiromanee, Shri Surendra Verma, Shri Atul Patel, Shri Babubhai Thiba, Shri Kukoo Kohli, Shri Mahendra Dhariwal, Shri Nishant Ujjwal, Shri Ashoke Pandit, Shri Rajkumar R Pandey, Shri Harsukhbhai Dhaduk, Shri Manish Jain, Shri Roshan Singh, Shri Yusuf Shaikh, Shri Sanjeev Singh, Shri Vinod Gupta
Bihar Film Incentive Policy Boosts State's Film Industry
During the meeting, the BSFDFC officials shared updates on the Bihar Film Incentive Policy, which was officially announced in July 2024 and has been implemented in October which process has been very fast thereby indicating the intention of the Bihar Government to proceed very fast in the matter. The policy offers attractive benefits to filmmakers and producers, with plans underway to extend similar support to cinema halls, helping strengthen Bihar’s entertainment infrastructure further. Shri Dayanidhan Pandey and Shri Rahul Kumar emphasized Bihar’s rapid progress in creating a film-friendly environment and their commitment to making the state an even more attractive destination for film production and cinema exhibition for which they said that the policy was based on the feedback received from IMPPA and other stakeholders of the industry and they are willing to make any changes required for successful implementation.
IMPPA President Shri Abhay Sinha assured full support of IMPPA, committing to actively promote Bihar as a filming destination among its members and encourage them to leverage the incentives offered. Shri Ashoke Pandit, President Indian Film & Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) also welcomed the BSFDFC delegation and announced that IFTDA stands united with IMPPA in supporting the successful implementation of Bihar’s Film Incentive Policy.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties making strong commitments to one another to ensure that the bold step taken by the Bihar Government to promote the film Industry a long-awaited step after decades of the Industry requesting the same was a most welcome decision and IMPPA gave full assurance that with the support and cooperation being extended by the Bihar Government we would assure that Bihar becomes the favourite shooting location for all Producers making films in all languages.
