Iss baar- hadd paar ? KBC-16 host ‘Screen-Shahenshah’ Amitabh Bachchan allows double –prize-money power ‘laajawab’ option for Contestants! by Chaitanya Padukone

When it comes to shooting for his movies, ad commercials, and as a host for reality TV shows, iconic versatile actor Amitabh Bachchan is the ultimate Supremo! That’s because the veteran yet evergreen ‘Mahaan’ actor will turn 82 years this year on October 11, and has the super-energy of a 28-year-old young man (‘82’ number reversed)!  The widely-watched reality prize-money quiz-game show Kaun Banega Crorepati  (Sony TV) returns with a big bang for its 16th season, just 48 hours before Independence Day on August 12, 2024.

With Amitabh Bachchan introducing an exciting new opportunity option feature in KBC Season 16, called the 'Super Sawaal.'
This special segment, the Super Sawaal option will appear after the fifth question,. This allows contestants to double their prize money without taking the support of ‘lifelines’, adding a high-stakes welcome twist to the game. Contestants who answer the 'Super Sawaal' correctly can use the 'dugaanastra' power to double their winnings on one of the questions between six and ten.

The 'Super Sawaal' is a new addition that allows contestants to double their prize money. This special bonus question appears after question 5, offering no choices or lifelines. If answered correctly, contestants unlock the 'dugaanastra' power, which enables them to press a buzzer and potentially double their winnings on any question between 6 and 10.

For example, if a KBC Contestant decides to use the 'dugaanastra' on question 9, they can double the standard prize of Rs 1,60,000, provided they answer correctly. However, the conditions-apply-catch is that ‘No Lifelines’ can be used during this process, adding multi-layers of risk, suspense, tension, and excitement.

The outspoken yet erudite-articulate Amitabh Bachchan has shared with his fans and fans of KBC, “ Some fresh new interesting changes in the Game and the impact it will have and the learnings...But above all the 'emotions' that overcome us all when the outcome of the Contestant seated before me narrates his or her story," the Mahaan actor Big B has mentioned. The ‘Deewaar',  ‘Sholay', 'Goodbye' and 'Uunchai'  superstar emphasized the emotionally- moving experiences of listening to Contestants speak about their struggles and the joy,  of seeing them striving hard to win while facing him on the 'hot seat’.

On the film front, dedicated actor Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD, where he played Ashwatthama in a science fiction action-thriller mythological saga. The multi-lingual film, also starring mega-stars Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Kamal Haasan, has been a blockbuster mega-hit crossing the Rs 1000 crore mark globally.  Amitabh-jee’s next filmy project is the Tamil adventure movie Vettaiyan ( means 'Hunter')  directed by TJ Gnanavel, which will see him share the screen with superstar Rajinikanth after a gap of 33 years  (last seen together in Hum--1991) This new film Vettaiyan is scheduled to release on the eve of Diwali 2024

For me, Amitabh-Sir with his charismatic aura has always been an inspiring icon of perfection. In terms of his success story, diligent dedication, his resilience, his punctuality, his passion for re-inventing himself time and again, his super-stardom, and his amazing ability to remain unassuming and accessible According to me,  AB-Sir is the ‘super-man-of-the-masses’ who as the exuberant, witty TV show-host is the ‘Mahaan-Maseeha-catalyst’ for thousands of KBC (Sony TV)  smart quiz-contestants emerging lakh-patis and crore-patis during each season.
