"Kaho Naa ‘Director’ Kabil Hai"—Superstar actor Hrithik Roshan will now “competently’ ‘direct’ ‘Krrish-4’ ! by Chaitanya Padukone

Possibly the biggest 'breaking news' of this season is global-icon superstar actor-dancer Hrithik Roshan turning ‘director’ -- for his upcoming movie ‘Krrish 4’.  . According to confirmed news, Yash Raj Films ( Aditya Chopra)  has now collaborated with Rakesh Roshan for 'Krrish 4'. This development was also confirmed by acclaimed actor-turned-director Rakesh Roshan, who initiated the celebrated superhero ‘Krrish’ science-fiction action franchise as both its director and the producer, the fourth part is being directed by lead-hero Hrithik himself.

Rakesh (Guddu-jee) had earlier announced that he would ‘not’ be directing the fourth film, and not surprisingly, he entrusted his son, Hrithik, with the directorial debut responsibility

A delighted Rakesh Roshan shared a X (Twitter) note for Hrithik on Friday, and wrote that he's passing the baton to his actor-son and "Re-launching" him after 25 years as a “director”. The caption on his post read, "Duggu, 25yrs back, I launched you as an actor, and today again after 25 yrs you are being launched as a director by two filmmakers Aditya Chopra & myself to take forward our most ambitious film #Krrish4. Wish you all success in this new avataar with good wishes and blessings! "

Personally, for me, since I know unassuming Hrithik from his debut movie ‘Kaho Naa Pyar Hai’ ( 2000), I am aware that Hrithik was proactively assisting his director father Rakesh-jee during the making of his home-production movies including ‘Karan Arjun and Koyla. With his diligent passion-interest in all technical aspects of film-craft (his production banner is called Filmkraft Productions), Hrithik also has excellent knowledge of editing movies.

Eminent senior cine-trade analyst Amod Mehra -also a close family friend well-wisher of the Roshans family who was among the first few to know the great jubilant news is extremely happy that Hrithik will soon be sitting in the designated Director’s Chair on the shooting sets. 

Says Amod-jee “ Honestly I had this personal gut-feeling long time ago, that Hrithik will turn ‘director’ someday.. I was given a subtle hint by Rakesh-jee that Krrish 4 may have a new debut-director. On the Ooty location shoot of  movie ‘Koyla’ (1997) I remember modest Hrithik preferred to stay with the unit-crew of technicians. Hrithik definitely has the potential of a competent director because he has acquired the expertise of film-making, he is very focused and clear in his vision of what he wants to do and what is not to be done. I wish Hrithik all the very best ! ,”

It may also be recalled that Krrish 4' was earlier backed by Siddharth Anand who had directed Hrithik Roshan opposite Deepika Padukone  in 'Fighter'.(2024)

Outspoken and articulate Rakesh-jee had always been sharing that son Hrithik Roshan, since 2005 always lived, dreamt and breathing this ‘Krrish’ (release-2006)  franchise ever since its story-script was conceived. Its possibly a phenomenal collaboration now that Hrithik-Rakesh and Aditya Chopra have joined hands.  Today with this major decision Rakesh proud that Hrithik will be wearing the director’s fedora-hat for a franchise film that means the world to us as a family. Meanwhile, sources close to the production say the film may go on the floors early next year ( 2026 and will possibly release maybe around January 10, 2027? Which is Hrithik’s birthday date..One of Hrithik’s biggest birthday gifts for himself ?
