Kapil Sharma gets emotional at Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 trailer launch, calls Dharmendra a father figure

Comedian Kapil Sharma is currently making headlines for his film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. The trailer of the film was released on Wednesday, 26 November, and fans are loving it. Kapil Sharma is once again seen adding his signature comic flavour. At the trailer launch event, the entire cast — Manjot Singh, Heera Varnier, Tridha Choudhury, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Abbas–Mustan, Ajit Andhare, and director Anukalp Goswami, along with several team members — were present.

At the trailer launch, when the host asked Kapil how he manages so many wives on-screen despite being happily married in real life, Kapil smiled and replied, “It works fine for two hours in a film… In reality, even handling one takes all your energy! We made this film 10 years ago, and people kept asking for Part 2 ever since. The real credit goes to Anukalp ji, who has written a clean and fun comedy.”

Kapil Shares an Emotional Anecdote About Dharmendra

During the trailer launch, Kapil shared a deeply personal memory related to Dharmendra. For Kapil, Dharmendra wasn’t just a superstar — he was like family. Kapil recalled that when The Kapil Sharma Show was being planned for the very first time, the team was surrounded by uncertainties. No one knew how the show would turn out, and the biggest challenge was finalising the first celebrity guest.

Kapil said, “No one was willing to come. We were new, and nobody knew what our show was going to be.” Kapil continued,“You won’t believe it — Dharam paaji spent the entire flight telling us jokes,” he said with a laugh. “By the end of the flight, we had become such good friends that even we couldn’t believe it.”

Encouraged by this unexpected friendship, Kapil later visited Dharmendra at his home to personally invite him as the first guest on his new show.

He said, “He didn’t ask a single question. I just told him I’m making a show for the first time and want him to be our first guest.”

Despite having a film release and a packed schedule at the time, Dharmendra immediately told his team member Poonam, “He’s my son. Find a date for him somehow.” Kapil said that Dharmendra’s generosity, warmth, and fatherly affection filled an emotional void in his life. While speaking, Kapil grew emotional and said, “Losing Dharam paaji felt like losing my father for the second time.” “He lived like a king. There was no one like Dharam paaji… and there never will be.”
Kapil ended his tribute with a gentle smile, adding that remembering Dharam paaji always fills his heart with warmth.

On the Canada Shooting Incident

During the press conference, Kapil Sharma was also asked about the firing incident at his Canada-based restaurant. The firing had made major headlines.
Kapil responded openly: “This incident happened in Vancouver… I think there were three firing attempts. I feel maybe the police there don’t have enough power to handle such things because of the rules. But when our case happened, it went to the federal level. Just like our central government here, the matter was discussed in Canada’s Parliament.”

He further said, “I think whatever God does has a reason we don’t immediately understand. Many people told me this wasn’t the first such incident there. But when our café was targeted, it became big news. Now, steps are being taken to improve the law and order system there.”

Kapil also praised Mumbai Police: “I always feel safe in my Mumbai and my country. There’s no one like Mumbai Police. Every time shots were fired there, our café saw an even bigger opening. So, when God is with you, everything works out.”
Kapil had been quiet about the issue for a long time, but now hoped such incidents never happen again — neither with him nor with anyone else.
