On Wednesday, May 14, in a glittering event held in Mumbai, Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn and his son Yug Devgn unveiled the Hindi trailer of Sony Pictures Entertainment India’s upcoming Hollywood film ‘Karate Kid: Legends’. This marks the first time that this father-son duo has worked together on an international film. The event also marks Yug Devgn’s debut in cinema.

The event kicked off with an energetic karate performance by kids, and shortly after, Ajay Devgn entered the stage holding Yug’s hand. This was followed by a lively Q&A session.

When the host asked Yug whether his father trains him in the gym, Yug replied, “He trains me every time we go to the gym.” To this, Ajay Devgn laughed and added, “I used to train him, now he trains me,” which left the audience in splits.

Further, when Yug was asked who inspired him the most while dubbing for this film, he smiled and said, “Dad has always done such great work. He is my inspiration. Whatever I’m doing today is because of him.” This heartfelt response left Ajay and everyone else in the audience emotional and proud.

The host then asked Yug to repeat a popular dialogue from one of Ajay Devgn’s films. Yug confidently said, “Ek hi din mein Singham banaoge kya?” (You’ll become Singham in a single day?). To this, Ajay responded in his signature style – “Singham koi kisi ko nahi banata, Singham banane wala (pointing to the sky) hi banata hai!” (No one makes someone a Singham, only the creator above does). The hall echoed with applause.

Yug also spoke about his views on fitness at the event. He said, “Eat healthy and don’t let fat build up in your body.” He also shared that he follows a healthy diet himself.

Ajay Devgn on India-Pakistan Conflict

During the event, Ajay Devgn was also asked about the recent India-Pakistan conflict. He said, “No one wants war, but they (Pakistan) left us with no choice. I salute our soldiers, the armed forces, and the Indian government for their bravery. They handled the situation with great courage and dignity. I salute them all. Jai Hind!”

What is the Film About?

Speaking of the storyline – the film is set in New York City, where a Kung Fu prodigy Li Fong tries to adjust to a new school. Along the way, he forms unexpected friendships and faces off against a local karate champion. Guiding him on this journey are Mr. Han (Jackie Chan) and the legendary Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio).

Sony Pictures Entertainment India’s ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ will hit theatres on May 30, 2025, in Hindi, English, Tamil, and Telugu.
