Khushali Kumar: Rising Star & Daughter of Music Mogul Gulshan Kumar

Khushali Kumar is spreading the fragrance of her talent and beauty in Bollywood. Khushali has everything that is needed to make a splash in the entertainment world. She is moving ahead towards success with measured steps. Khushali Kumar's career journey in Bollywood is deeply rooted in the legacy of her father Gulshan Kumar. Gulshan Kumar, who transformed the music industry in India with his strength and vision. Khushali Kumar's rise in Bollywood is more than just a story of her own achievement, it is a reflection of the incomparable, incredible, and amazing journey of her family, which started with her father Gulshan Kumar.

Gulshan Kumar, who grew up in a simple family in Delhi, became the legendary founder of T-Series. In the seventies, his father used to make a living by selling fruit juices in Daryaganj. Gulshan Kumar used to help his father in the beginning but his heart was deeply immersed in the continuous flow of music and acting. Since childhood, he was an ardent devotee of Mahadev, and the devotional music inspired him to do something different. Soon he realized the potential of the cassette business. With the support of his family, he opened a small record shop and started producing low-cost audio cassettes. To reduce the production budget, he used cover versions of popular songs.

During those days, he came in contact with Mr. A.P. Bajaj, the founder and editor of the top emerging Mayapuri Film Weekly. His talent was recognized by Bajaj sahab and the friendship that Mayapuri developed with his family is strong till date. Gulshan Kumar's innovative ideas helped him build a music empire by taking him from rags to riches in no time.

By 1983, he founded Super Cassettes Industries, now known as T-Series. The success of T-Series was not just a business success, it was a success of understanding people's love for music. He had an innate understanding of the pulse of Indian music listeners and revolutionized the way music was produced and distributed. Gulshan Kumar initially focused on devotional songs and later ventured into every genre of music and films.

His immense potential made T-Series the biggest music label in India. Despite facing challenges like piracy and threats from the underworld, Gulshan Kumar remained committed to his values and vision. After his tragic death in 1997, the responsibility of handling both the family and the business fell on his wife Smt. Sudesh Kumari. Till then she was just a simple housewife, but with unprecedented courage she took on the entire responsibility of T-Series to keep her husband's legacy alive. Khushali often talks about the struggles she saw her mother go through during that time. Khushali said in an interview, "My mother was from a Hindi medium school and had never attended business meetings before. But she handled everything very well. Raising us siblings in a very good and cultured way and managing the company, she did everything very strongly."

Gulshan Kumar's son Bhushan Kumar is today the chairman of T-Series. After his father's death, Bhushan, at the age of 19,  took over the company along with his mother, and made the company a leader in the global entertainment sector. He expanded T-Series from music to film production, and set an example by making it the first YouTube channel to cross 100 million subscribers. Bhushan Kumar's wife Divya Khosla Kumar is a talented actress, director and producer. She directed popular films like 'Yaariyan' and 'Sanam Re' and also acted in films like 'Satyamev Jayate 2'. Divya also worked on several music videos.

Smt. Sudesh Kumari's determination always ensured that her daughters and also daughter-in-law could pursue their dreams with gender equality.

Khushali herself grew up in an environment of hard work and perseverance. Though she initially studied fashion design at NIFT Delhi, and gained international recognition by designing clothes for stars like Shakira and Justin Bieber. She eventually pursued her passion for acting. Her debut in the film 'Dhokha: Round the Corner' followed by 'Ghodchadhi', 'Starfish' and several video albums gave her a significant recognition in Bollywood, but Khushali credits her parents for shaping her dreams. "My father taught me the importance of dreaming big and my mother taught me to face challenges," Khushali said.

This upbringing also shaped Khushali's sister Tulsi Kumar. Initially, she was encouraged to pursue a different career, but Tulsi finally convinced her parents to support her passion for singing. Today, she is one of the most successful playback singers. Khushali has often acknowledged that her mother's strength, after her father's demise played a key role in her achievements. Today, Khushali Kumar is walking  the path to realizing the shared dream she saw with her father Gulshan Kumar.

Gulshan Kumar also had once dreamt of becoming a successful actor, which could not be fulfilled, but Khushali is committed to fulfilling her father's dream.  Gulshan Kumar started from zero and became the hero of a music empire. Khushali's mother held on to that empire strongly despite all obstacles and raised the children with values and success to great heights. Because of this, Bhushan Kumar, his wife Divya Khosla Kumar, Tulsi Kumar and Khushali Kumar could dare to dream big while sticking to their values.
