Kritika Kamra, a performer who exhibits unique talents in film and television, has now delved into helping the local artisan communities of Madhya Pradesh revive traditional arts and develop the area with a heartfelt mission. Krutika, with the support of her mother, is pushing forward the idea of the formation of a fashion hub called Cinnabar with local artists from their town Chanderi, an area known for its handloom art.
Kritika Supports Chanderi Artisans with Fashion Project Launch
Kritika was in Chanderi for the first time when she observed the effort of these artisans and wished to assist them. With this aim, she unveiled the fashion project not only to promote the local Chanderi handloom but also to offer an opportunity to the local weavers to display their exceptional artistry. The actress and charity also sponsored the local art initiative run by some village craftsmen alongside them, which in turn helped them not only to keep their skills but to lead sustainable lives.
Expressing this opinion, Kritika Kamra mentioned, “Chanderi has for long been known for its beautiful handloom art and since I was brought up there, I have immense respect for the artists who keep this tradition of craftsmanship alive. It was for this reason that I took the decision to join hands with my parents to start this initiative - it was a way of appreciating my tradition and giving back to the community thus the result was this platform. We meant to give a platform to those artisans that are the cream of the crop- this will make our community stronger as it will then break the barriers he said. You can feel proud of your art."
Krutika set up this initiative to maintain a long tradition of the Chanderi silk weaving industry, while simultaneously boosting the local economic sector. In her thinking, the actor anticipates that not only it will be beneficial for the sustainability of the traditional art crafts but it will also ignite a motivation in others to remember and encourage the hands that are inserted in their local businesses.
