Mohanlal on the 'L2: Empuraan' Trailer Launch
At the event, Mohanlal was seen in a black t-shirt and grey blazer. During the event, he shared his excitement saying, "There are butterflies in my stomach right now. It’s not easy to be a part of such a highly anticipated pan-India film after 47 years in the industry. That’s why I’m even more excited about this film. This isn’t just a film; it’s magic, and it’s a film that’s made with our blood and sweat. I thank the makers for bringing me on board for this project."
When asked about how it felt to be part of a film that will be released in all languages, Mohanlal responded, "It was our dream to create a big film with top actors from across the country. India is capable of making incredible films, and this is a new step for us. The reception this film has received is beyond belief; there’s magic in this film, and the rest will be decided by fate."
Prithviraj Sukumaran Speaks on the Film
Director and actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, dressed in a blue coat and pants, shared his thoughts at the event. "Currently, the Malayalam film industry is in a golden phase. We are making excellent films with fantastic performances from our actors. Today, our industry has reached a point where we can think about making big-budget films. I believe 'L2: Empuraan' will take that thought forward."
Prithviraj also shared a personal experience during the filming process. "Before starting this film, I was working on another project and injured myself during an action sequence. I had to undergo a complicated knee surgery, and the recovery was challenging, especially for someone like me who is physically active. I was at my lowest point, but I fully recovered because I started shooting for this film. Our first schedule was shot at 12,300 feet above sea level, with temperatures as low as -12°C, and we shot without oxygen in freezing conditions. This was one of the most challenging sequences, but being fully immersed in the shoot gave me the encouragement to get back to work."
Prithviraj also revealed that nearly 20 years ago, in a Tamil interview, a journalist had asked him which actors he would cast when he directed a film. At that time, he had mentioned Manju Warrier and Mohanlal, and today, he has cast them both.
Prithviraj Sukumaran Praises Mohanlal
On this occasion, Prithviraj praised Mohanlal, saying, "I assure you, there is no one in Malayalam cinema who is not a fan of Mohanlal. He is not just an actor or a star for us; he is part of our cultural consciousness. We all love him, even if we have our favorite stars. Because of him, our generation became a part of cinema. I consider myself lucky to have directed him three times and to sit next to him today."
Aamir Khan’s Sister, Nikhat Khan, Also Stars in the Film
At the event, Prithviraj spoke about casting Aamir Khan's sister, Nikhat Khan Hegde, in the film. "When I saw her audition, I was truly impressed. I told my casting director, 'I want her for this role.' Later, I found out that she was Aamir Khan’s sister. I was surprised but immediately called Aamir Sir and told him, 'She’s even better than you think.'"
Nikhat Khan, known for her roles in films like 'Pathaan' and 'Mission Mangal,' will also be playing a significant role in 'L2: Empuraan.'
Rajinikanth's Praise for the Film
During the event, Prithviraj also shared a memorable moment when superstar Rajinikanth praised the film. "A few days ago, I had the opportunity to meet Rajinikanth Sir and show him the film's trailer. Whatever he said about the film felt like an award to me. I will always cherish those words."
