Navjot Singh Sidhu, the former cricketer and Congress leader from Punjab, is in hot water over his comments about cancer treatment. Sidhu, famous for his catchphrase “Thoko thoko, taali thoko” on The Kapil Sharma Show, recently made a controversial statement during a press conference, claiming that his wife, Navjot Kaur, was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer two years ago, while he was in jail at the time. He further stated that his wife underwent breast surgery for a rare form of metastasis and that doctors had lost all hope by the third stage. However, he credited her recovery to home remedies such as lemon water, raw turmeric, cinnamon, and a specific diet, suggesting that she had miraculously recovered through these methods alone.

This claim has stirred up a storm in the medical community. Dr. Kuldeep Solanki, convenor of Chhattisgarh Civil Society, has now sent a legal notice to the Sidhu couple, demanding a response within seven days and a submission of certified documents to prove their claims. The notice also asks Navjot Kaur to answer the following questions:

Do you fully support your husband's claims regarding your health?

Did the allopathic treatments you received at various hospitals offer you no benefit?

Did dietary changes alone—such as lemon water, raw turmeric, basil leaves, and neem leaves—help you recover, with no medical intervention?

If you support your husband’s statements, please provide proof within seven days to show that you defeated stage 4 cancer in just 40 days, without any medication or medical help, simply by changing your diet.

Dr. Solanki's Statement

Dr. Kuldeep Solanki criticized the Sidhu couple for spreading misinformation, saying their claims were confusing cancer patients both in India and abroad. He stated that if they failed to provide scientific evidence or apologize within seven days, he would take the matter to court. Solanki also emphasized that claiming cancer could be cured solely through Ayurvedic methods at stage 4 is not only false but could endanger many lives. He demanded an apology from Navjot Singh Sidhu for misleading the public.

Statement from Tata Memorial Hospital

Earlier, Tata Memorial Hospital had issued an advisory dismissing the idea of curing cancer through home remedies. The hospital clarified that there was no scientific data to support such claims and recommended seeking medical treatment as soon as cancer symptoms appear. Although research into certain products is ongoing, the hospital made it clear that there is no clinical evidence to suggest that any alternative remedies can replace conventional cancer treatments.

What’s Next for the Sidhu Couple?

The big question now is whether Navjot Singh Sidhu and his wife can back up their statements with scientific evidence or whether they will be forced to pay a massive fine of 850 crore. The next few days will reveal if the Sidhu couple will continue to stand by their claims or if they will be held accountable for potentially misleading the public.
