Director Rama Reddy's wonderful and cinematic labor of love, 'The Fable' starring Manoj Bajpayee has been awarded the Special Jury Prize in the South Asia Competition at the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2024. Its Asia premiere was held at MAMI last week. Announcing the award, filmmaker Kabir Khan described the film as a brilliant and imaginative film showcasing the director's ambitions. 

Rama Reddy is currently in Spain for another film festival, and hence could not stop by for the closing ceremony of MAMI. But, his father, producer Prathap Reddy, read out a message on behalf of the team, saying, "We would like to thank MAMI for this wonderful opportunity to showcase our film at such an emotional and exciting festival. Our team Worked and won. There are many challenges in bringing this dream to the screen. We are very grateful for this recognition. MAMI viewers were, in many ways, our first audience, and we feel fortunate to have your support to make this happen."

Director Rama Reddy said,

“It looks beautiful; Like a full circle. I had the privilege of winning the same award with 'Thithi in 2015', It feels beyond words to be back at MAMI with my second film and to win the same award again. More than the awards, it was the incredible audience interaction and reaction that made me feel like the film was really entertaining audiences the way I had hoped. I am so pleased with the MAMI experience and really can't wait to share, 'The Fable' with more audiences in India and around the world.

Actor Manoj Bajpayee said,

“Being a part of The Fable was a transformative experience. The quiet complexity of the story challenged me as an actor. It was a privilege to portray a character balancing nature and human emotions. We started filming before the pandemic, and then we stopped and then returned to complete it on the mountain. Despite all the challenges the crew emerged victorious, waiting patiently because we believed in Ram's vision and passion. The Special Jury Award at the MAMI Festival reflects the power of film and the dedication of everyone who made it possible.”

The film also features excellent performances from Priyanka Bose, Deepak Dobriyal, Tillotama Shome, Hiral Sidhu, and Avan Pookot. After the successful debut at MAMI, the film will continue its festival journey. The Fable is set to make its mark on the international festival circuit with multiple screenings at various prestigious film festivals over the next few weeks. The film was screened at SEMINCI, Spain on October 25 and 26, with screenings at the Teatro Zorrilla and Cine Broadway. Next, The Fable was also played at Brazil's Mostra festival from October 17 to 20. In November, the film will continue its global tour with screenings at the 3 Continents Festival in France, the Leeds International Film Festival, and the Cork International Film Festival in Ireland.
