In the glittering presence of a galaxy of musical and filmy iconic celebs, the official launch of Rajeev Mahavir’s Los Angeles-based music label, “SUR Music”, took place in Mumbai and India. The grand late evening event at the Juhu J W Marriott, was graced by the presence of legends like Padma Vibhushan Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Hon. State Minister Shri Ashish Shelar-jee, Hariharan  Javed Ali,  Roopkumar Rathod, and Sunali Rathod and eminent script-writer-filmmaker Rumy Jaffery, who all came together to inaugurate and bless the 'SUR" label team with warmth and applause.

Coincidentally, the international music label was launched just two days prior to World Music Day, which falls on Saturday June 21st, 2025 and the theme this year is 'Healing Through Harmony'

The debut offering of SUR Music features none other than the legendary singer-composer-actor Padmashri A. Hariharan, whose soulful vibrant voice brings the label's first musical release 'Mohabbat Teri' a fabulous music-track-video to life. Marking the rise of a new virtuoso, the evening introduced talented Ms. Sohini Dey—a gifted young vocal talent poised to shape the future of Indian music.

A landmark celebration unfolded as Rajeev Mahavir, an international music composer from Mumbai and Suvarna Pappu, a multifaceted entrepreneur and creative producer from USA, introduced their brainchild to India. Co-founded by Rajeev and Suvarna, SUR Music is envisioned as a global stage for meaningful musical expression, driven by its guiding philosophy: “Passionately Original.”

The evening also showcased the powerhouse behind the company—creative directors Sandip Mahavir, Kaushal Mahavir, Sameer Mahavir, Yash Mahavir, Malhar Mahavir, Vaishnavi Mahavir, and Jahnavi Mahavir—who collectively represent and uphold the legacy of Eleven (11) Generations of the Jaipur Gharana and Pt. K. Mahavir. Their deep-rooted musical knowledge, creative energy, and commitment to excellence now lend strength, soul, and continuity to SUR Music, making it not just a label but a lineage carried forward with pride.

Many  NRI known celeb singers and upcoming Indian singer artistes were also among the invited guests including the popular singer-composer-performers  Sumeet Tapoo, Aruni Baggar, and singer-model-actress Pryanca Yadav and many more.

Speaking to me, 'SUR' event host and eminent passionate composer-singer Rajeev Mahavir said, " Besides recording and performing live as a singer-composer, it has always been my endeavor to give big-breaks to deserving new vocal talents and groom them. Now that we have our own label 'SUR', which has been blessed and supported by such legendary names in music, we are confident to record more such tracks. We will strive to give high-quality original vocal music to millions of global music-loving listeners and viewers. We have plans to record songs with iconic singers like Anup Jalota, Sadhana Sargam, Roopkumar Rathod and many more and of course new singers.  Gharana also requires established seniors to support and give to others and promote new vocal talents," insists ever-smiling Rajeev Mahavir who has a witty sense of instant humour.

The label’s first musical offering is “Mohabbat Teri”, a soulful, soothing lyrical composition that offers a refreshing alternative to today’s fast-paced musical trends. Sung by the legendary Padmashri A. Hariharan and composed by Rajeev Mahavir, the song is a romantic melody shaped in the style of a ghazal, infused with elegant world music textures that resonate across ages. The track also introduces Sohini Dey, a young and promising artist whose graceful vocals bring a fresh and emotive contrast to Hariharan’s timeless voice.
