Music maestro A R Rahman’s “marital separation” news shocks fans and showbiz fraternity !

Academy Oscar-award winning maestro composer-singer AR Rahman, who being a private person, mostly kept his personal life out of media focus. , is now in the glare of media-limelight This is following the announcement of his “separation from his wife, Saira Banu”. The couple, who had been married for  29 years officially disclosed their decision to part ways.

The sad, heart-breaking news has apparently shocked both the music and film fraternity and all his millions ardent loyal music fans, and most of them have reacted with sense of initial disbelief. Genius global icon Rahman ( 02 Oscar Academy Awards, total 31 Filmfare Awards--South Regional and Hindi and 07 National Film Awards) is known for romantic soulful and peppy songs from a large number of Southside regional as well as landmark musical Hindi movies. The super-hit-list including Roja ( 1992), Rangeela, Bombay, Gentleman, Taal, and of course Dil Se. besides patriotic songs like Maa Tujhe Salaam--Vande Mataram! 

The innovative acclaimed composer-singer Padma Bhushan awardee Allah Rakha Rahman (original name A .S. Dileep Kumar) took to his X handle (formerly Twitter) to address the situation and also shared his emotional thoughts on their marital journey together.

Known for his reserved yet outspoken nature Rahman confirmed the separation and expressed his deep feelings about the end of their long-lasting bond. He wrote, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty,( wedding anniversary)  but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”he shared.

The music maestro’s heartfelt note reflected on the nearly three decades of his life spent with Saira. He acknowledged the pain of their parting while also expressing gratitude for the kindness and respect shown by their friends and supporters during this challenging time.

Meanwhile, Rahman’s children have requested everyone to respect their privacy  and they have thanked the fans and close friends for their kind understanding

This comes after Saira's lawyer, Vandana Shah shared an official statement about the about her client's divorce with the 57-year-old.

The official statement read, "After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira has made the difficult decision to separate from her husband Mr. AR Rahman."

"This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time."

"Mrs Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life.”

Composer-singer AR Rahman tied the nuptial knot with Saira Banu on March 12, 1995. They share three children: Khatija, Raheema and Ameen.
