These individuals shared their deep stories of cyber threats, crimes, and phone tapping, and how deeply these attacks have impacted their lives. The event was appreciated as a unique initiative that provided a great platform for the survivors to share their stories of struggles and triumphs. 'Ghuspathiya' mastermind director Susi Ganesan and producer Manjari Susi Ganesan participated in the event and supported these courageous individuals and boosted their courage. Victims shared their real experiences of falling into the web of cyberbullying and crimes. One woman said, “I was asked to pay money for a better job opportunity in a very famous company. They asked for a certain amount for a particular position, which was out of my budget, but I still paid after a few days, when I contacted them and did not get any response, I realized that I had fallen into the web of cybercrime. I felt completely betrayed and disappointed." Another victim said, “I was lured into investing a large amount of money with promises of huge profits when the money was gone, I finally understood that I had fallen into a web of cyber crime. It was very upsetting to lose my hard-earned money to such fraud." Not only women and youth, but senior citizens have also become victims of this problem. A 70-year-old senior citizen shared his story, "A very close acquaintance asked me for money, saying he needed financial help. Trusting him, I gave him the money, but he disappeared and never came back. This is a harsh lesson was how vulnerable we all are to this kind of fraud." Another survivor shared a scary experience that proves how dangerous social media can be if one is not careful. He said, "I met someone on Facebook and we became friends. He asked for Rs 30,000 for the treatment of his ailing mother, and I sent him the money later, she claimed that she had lost her job and asked for help with work and flight tickets to Mumbai. I booked the ticket, but he never came, and his phone was switched off. I came to know that I have become a victim of fraud." From senior citizens to youngsters, housewives to working professionals—anyone can become a victim of cybercrime, and hence awareness of cyber security is extremely important in today's era. In addition to the screening of the film, this event was intended as a community outreach program to help inform and rally advocates around these important issues by providing them with practical imperative information. The lessons we learn from the stories of survivors are essential to understanding what kind of real threats may exist in a digital world and why prevention is important. The makers of the film said, "The event is our attempt at conversation starters and proactive approaches to fighting cyber threats, as well a conduit between the stars on-screen characters with the common man downtrodden off it. Hopefully, these conversations linger in the minds of those who watch and contribute to society by educating us on the danger for a person just trying to go about their regular daily life.
