Pustakayan 2024: Celebrating Literature with Dr. Harvinder Mankkar

The Pustakayan 2024 literary festival, organized by the Sahitya Akademi at Ravindra Bhavan, was a grand celebration of literature. This event showcased a wide range of books from various publishers, providing a unique and enriching experience for literary enthusiasts. Alongside the book exhibition, the festival also featured the launch of new books and thought-provoking discussions, attracting renowned writers and literary figures from both India and abroad.  

Two highly anticipated books by Dr. Harvinder Mankkar were unveiled at the event: “Safarnama 2: Zindagi Yun Hi Chalti Rahe", which chronicles his life journey, and a children's storybook, “Manav and Mitthu ki Kahaniyan". These books were formally launched by the celebrated poet and author, Dr. Poonam Matia, who praised their content and significance, stating that they have the power to resonate deeply with readers and enrich the world of literature.  

The success of the event was greatly attributed to Advik Publications, under the guidance of Mr. Ashok Gupta, whose efforts ensured the seamless execution of the festival. The stage proceedings were skillfully managed by Dr. Swati Choudhury, whose eloquence and captivating words added charm to the programme.  

The list of speakers included prominent personalities. Actress and author Romi Sharma spoke about her dedication to literature and shared how her writings are a tribute to the brave soldiers of India. Young author and expert in education and banking, Arpit Taneja, delivered insightful remarks on social and financial issues, showcasing his depth of knowledge. Presiding over the programme, acclaimed author Ritu Soni Bhagat shared her experiences and highlighted the enduring importance of literature.  

In his address, Dr. Harvinder Mankkar expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone present. He remarked, “Books are life. They inspire us and give direction to our journey. They are a necessity today and will continue to be in the future."

The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with the venue packed to capacity. The enthusiastic sales of books during the festival underscored the enduring appeal of literary works and indicated a promising future for literature. Pustakayan 2024 not only provided a platform for authors and publishers but also strengthened the bond between readers and the world of books, making it a truly remarkable and inspiring occasion.
