Revisiting Beloved Characters of The Movies and OTT (Revival of 2024)

These popular actors of Bollywood reconstructed their characters and gave them a new look and feel. In films and OTT, these actors demonstrated that sequels and new seasons are as powerful or more, as the first ones. 

Here these actors reprised the same characters in 2024 and showed that no character is stale if the script and acting are good enough. Whether it is the angry young man Guddu Bhaiya, the intriguing Rooh Baba or the secretary who performs miracles even in the ordinary – all these character have etched themselves in the minds of the fans.

Kartik Aryan – Rooh Baba (Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3)

From Kartik Aryan’s Rooh Baba in ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ the character was not only liked by the audience but was also incorporated into the popular culture. He was very humorous and his dialogues were very funny which made the audience burst into laughter most of the time. Karthik made a new avatar for this character and showed that he is a bank of entertainment. Due to the success of the character of Rooh Baba, the fans are now waiting for the next part of this series.

Ajay Devgan – Bajirao Singham (Singham Returns)

The first face that strikes one’s mind when one hears the name of ‘Singham’ franchise is Bajirao Singham of Ajay Devgan. Ajay Devgan came back to his usual style in ‘Singham Returns’ where he had the dialogue ‘Aata Majhi Satkali… and the fans loved the film for the energetic and bright action scene. Singham Again as a police officer, fight for justice and the action scenes made this film one of the most awaited films of 2024. Ajay Devgan once again showed that no one can fit into the shoes of Singham.  

Ali Fazal - Guddu Bhaiya (Mirzapur 3)

Ali Fazal made a comeback with a bang with the character of Guddu Bhaiya in Mirzapur 3. This time his character appeared more angry than before, burning with the fire of pain and revenge. Ali portrayed Guddu's feelings and emotions very well. His sharp glances, powerful dialogues and charismatic screen presence kept the audience engaged. This unique journey of Guddu Bhaiya shocked the fans and once again Ali Fazal's acting was praised. 

Taapsee Pannu – As Rani Kashyap (fir aayi haseen Dilruba)

Taapsee Pannu came back with the character of Rani Kashyap in ‘Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba’. Rani’s character is one of the most interesting and layered female characters on the show, she is a woman who is stuck in a web of love, deceit and crime. Taapsee has performed the mystery and cunning of the character Rani so effectively that the audience kept their eyes on her. This performance of Taapsee made it clear that she is the best fit for the thriller and mystery movies.

Bhuvan Bam – Vasant Gawde (Taaja Khabar 2)

Bhuvan Bam once again comes back as Vasant Gawde in ‘Taaja Khabar 2’ and this time Vasant Gawde is more adventurous and surprising than before. What Vasant has gone through in his new journey made the audience laugh, cry and even shock. Bhuvan was loved by the audience for his comedy and the ability to act emotionally. His impeccable timing for the jokes and the intense emotional scenes made the audience laugh and also showed that he is not only a comedian but an actor as well.  

Jitendra Kumar -As Abhishek Tripathi. Secretary (Panchayat 3)

Jitendra Kumar was back to rule the hearts once again as the Panchayat Secretary.
This time his character in ‘Panchayat 3’ was more layered and had an added dimension to it than before. Jitendra depicted the story of an officer, who has been transferred to village from a city with sincerity and naturalness. His emoting, the words he spoke and his childlike demeanor once again immersed the audience into this world of Panchayat politics. 

Abhishek Banerjee - Jana (Stree 2)

People have not forgotten Jana’s character in Abhishek Banerjee’s ‘Stree’. In ‘Stree 2’ he made this character even more entertaining and memorable. Jana was funny, her dialogues were witty and the ghost was funny at the right time. This time the role of Jana in the story has become more interesting where she looks like a person who is scared and at the same time wants to know something more. The show was a great success and Abhishek’s great acting showed that he can do justice to any role.  

Shweta Tripathi – Golu Gupta (Mirzapur 3)

The biggest attraction of ‘Mirzapur 3’ was the change of the actress Shweta Tripathi into Golu Gupta. The transformation of a nerdy girl to a rebellious warrior has left the audience stunned especially in the case of Golu. In the third season of ‘Mirzapur’ Golu appeared even bolder, angry and muscular. Shweta depicted Golu’s feelings, fight and revenge so effectively that the audience had no chance to blink their eyes. Shweta’s acting gave the message that she can do any difficult role with great comfort.

Huma Qureshi - Rani Bharti (Maharani 3)

Rani Bharti played by Huma Qureshi came back even stronger in ‘Maharani 3’. While in the first episode, Rani looked like an ordinary housewife, this time she was wise and powerful queen. Rani’s fight in the tough world of politics along with her diplomatic sense made the audience hooked up. I think that Huma also demonstrated the positive and negative attributes of this character to the best. For this role, Huma was unmatched after her brilliant performance in ‘Maharani 3’.

Dipankar Sanyal – Jaideep Ahlawat (The Broken News 2)

Jaideep Ahlawat returned to the role of the rude news anchor Dipankar Sanyal in the second season of the web series The Broken News 2. Ahlawat, who is known for the versatility in his acting, this time brought in more layers of complexity to a conflicted journalist character. Emphasizing the ethical issues of the media business, he impressed the viewers with the great charisma and the perfect intonation of the dialogue. His performance became outstanding and he was one of the most wanted actors of Bollywood.
