Rohit Shetty launches action-packed trailer of Samit Kakkad’s ‘Raanti’ , with Sharad Kelkar as avenging, angry, macho Vishnu-avataar ? by Chaitanya Padukone

Known for breaking boundaries with his unique storytelling and cinematic style, maverick regional filmmaker Samit Kakkad is all set to unleash movie Raanti, an action-packed Marathi film for that’s set to redefine the brutal;-bloody action-thriller genre in regional cinema. The movie tagged as “The Most Powerful Film of this Decade” is produced by Punit Balan Studios, Raanti ( which means wild, savage )  is releasing on Friday, November 22) promises to be a big-ticket action experience for regional and cosmopolitan audiences. The film Raanti features bass-voiced tall, handsome star actor Sharad Kelkar in the lead.  The versatile Sharad ( of  ‘Tanhaji, ‘Lai Bhaari’ and ‘Raakshas’ movies etc fame) is cast in Raanti opposite the tall. beautiful  Shanvi Srivastava—who has acted in nearly 20 South Indian regional movies and has won multiple ‘Best Actress’ Awards and now makes her Marathi movies debut with ‘Raanti’

Bollywood action icon and seasoned filmmaker Rohit Shetty (of latest ‘Singham Again’ super-hit movie fame ) took the honors of digitally ‘unveiling’ the powerful trailer of ‘Raanti’ marking a pivotal historic moment in Marathi cinema.

Speaking about the essence of the film, regional movies showman-director Samit Kakkad said, “I’m incredibly grateful to Rohit Shetty for unveiling the trailer of Raanti. His support means a lot, especially as someone who has redefined spectacular on-screen action in Indian cinema. With Raanti, I always envisioned bringing a high-octane action experience for Marathi audiences. Something on a grand scale that combines intensity and visual impact. It’s a story rooted in raw power and resilience, and I believe this film truly represents the kind of action feature I’ve always wanted to create. I can’t wait for theatre audiences to experience the fierce energy we’ve brought to life.” Macho hero Sharad Kelkar is equally super-excited with his title-role in  ‘Raanti and he is confident that the movie will be on par with South Indian action-blockbusters and also prove that Marathi action-movies with perfectionist innovative directors like Samit Kakkad can even reach international cinematic standards.

Addressing the press conference, eminent producer Punit Balan shared his excitement for the project, stating, “Raanti is a special film for us – it’s not just a movie, but a visual journey of action, drama, and emotion. With Samit’s brilliant direction, Sharad’s powerful performance and an incredible cast and crew team, we are thrilled to bring such a powerful story to Marathi audiences. We wanted to take the level of Marathi cinema to new heights on the level of South Indian blockbusters and even Hollywood movie  and Raanti is a bold, daring  step in that direction.”

In Hindu mythology, Lord Vishnu’s Narasimha avatar symbolizes the most intense form of protection against evil. Raanti draws from this power, presenting actor Sharad Kelkar as Vishnu, a protagonist who is fierce, relentless, and determined to conquer every challenge that comes his way. Kelkar’s portrayal of Vishnu embodies raw strength and justice, which comes to life with his powerful physicality, intense gaze, and speed.

Theatre audiences will be treated to intense volatile performances by eminent hugely-talented star-actors including Sharad Kelkar ( as ‘Vishnu’)  famous Kannada and Telugu movies stunning star actress Shanvi Srivastava. in her Marathi debut as ‘Maithili’ in a de-glam yet charming lead role,  popular celeb-model and theatre actor  Hitesh Bhojraj ( as ‘Dheeraj’), Sanjay Narvekar, Santosh Juvekar, Nagesh Bhosle, Jaywant Wadkar, Sanjay Khapre, Chhaya Kadam, Akshaya Gurav, Kailas Waghmare, Madhav Deochakke, Sushant Shelar, and Nayana Mukhe. The movie 'Raanti' is supposedly an adapted Marathi remake version of the hit Kannada award-winning action thriller ' Ugramm' (2014)

The robust technical team of Raanti includes writing by Hrishikesh Koli, music by Ajit Parab, background score by Amar Mohile, action sequences designed by Ejaz Gulab, cinematography by Setu Sriram, and editing by Ashish Mhatre, all of whom bring this extraordinary vision to life.

 Raanti is set to release on November 22, 2024, promising theatre audiences an exhilarating cinematic journey that combines hard-hitting violent action, drama, refreshing romance, elegant glamour  and powerful emotions.
