Salim Khan Marks 61st Wedding Anniversary With Family; Salman Khan Appears in Dashing Style

On his son Arbaaz Khan's chat show, Salim Khan recounted his and Sushila Charak's (now Salma Khan) love story in a fascinating way. He explained that at the time, he was quite famous in his neighborhood. During this time, he met Sushila, who lived nearby, and the two began meeting—all secretly.

Salim Khan said with a smile,"One day I realized this secret meeting story couldn't go on for long. I told Sushila, 'No more, I have to meet your parents.'"He continued,"When I arrived at their house, the whole family looked at me as if a new animal had arrived at a zoo and people were gathering to see it. I was really nervous."

Salim Khan continued, "My future father-in-law said, 'Son, we've heard about you. You're from a good family, you're educated, you have everything. We have no objections. It's hard to find good boys these days, but religion is unacceptable.'"Hearing this, Salim said, "I said,your daughter and I may have 1,760 problems, but religion will never be a problem." Salim then married Sushila, who became Salma. 

Furthermore, in an interview with the Free Press Journal, Salim Khan recalled,"My wife loved the ritual of the seven vows. She had seen her sister and cousin perform it, so I called a pandit from our street and we performed the vows. We also had a Nikah, which basically ensures that you are not marrying under any pressure or coercion."

Salim, who gave Hindi cinema classics like Sholay and Zanjeer, married Susheela in 1964. The couple has four children—Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan, and Alvira Agnihotri—and an adopted daughter, Arpita Khan.

Marriage to Helen 

Many years later, Salim Khan met the famous Bollywood dancer-actress Helen. Their friendship deepened over time, and this relationship blossomed into love, leading to their marriage in 1981. In an episode of the documentary "Angry Young Men," when asked how he fell in love with Helen, he smiled and said, "If you've ever fallen in love, you'll know." During the same conversation, he also explained how he informed his children about this decision.

According to Salim Khan, "I sat all the children down and explained that they might not understand this now, but they will understand when they grow up. I said, 'I love Helen Aunty. I know you won't be able to love her as much as your mother, but I want you to give her the same respect.'" In this way, Salim Khan expressed his feelings honestly to his family and continued his relationship with dignity. 

Even today, Salim Khan, Salma Khan and Helen are seen together in special family functions and festivals.
