The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 (IFFM) is set to showcase one of its highlight centerpiece films, "Mrs," starring Sanya Malhotra. The film, directed by Arati Kadav, will have its Australian premiere at the festival. Both Sanya Malhotra and director Arati Kadav are scheduled to attend the event. 
”Mrs” explores the complex life of a woman, played by Sanya Malhotra, who is a trained dancer and a dance teacher. After she gets married, she has to deal with the responsibilities of a wife and at the same time make an identity of herself. The movie shows how she struggles for her identity while being a wife and trying to live up to the expectations of society. The film is the Hindi remake of the Malayalam movie “The Great Indian Kitchen” and also stars Kanwaljit Singh and Nishant Dahiya. Jointly produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Pammi Baweja, and Harman Baweja, “Mrs” is a Jio Studios and Baweja Studios production. Sanya earlier bagged the Best Actress award for the film at the New York Indian Film Festival and has also got the nomination call for Best Actress for IFFM 2024.

When talking about the Australian screening of the movie, Sanya Malhotra said, “I am thrilled and honored that ‘Mrs’ will have its Australian premiere at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne. This film is very close to my heart because it deals with the issue of a woman’s path to self-realization in the context of society’s demands. It was great working with Arati Kadav and the whole team, it was a very deep experience. I am sure the story will be liked by audiences all over the world and I am eager to show it to the viewers of IFFM.

Arati Kadav, the director of the film, said, “IFFM is a distinguished event, and we are glad to present ‘Mrs’ at this event The film is a portrayal of a woman’s life and its emotional and social aspects This is a central theme of the movie Having this as the centerpiece of IFFM is a testament to the fact that the movie is a universal one. Sanya’s acting is realistic and powerful in portraying the character she plays.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 will be scheduled for the 15th edition from 15th August to 25th August. The festival which is the only Indian film festival outside India supported by the government of another country has been presenting such stories in the festival every year.
