Actor Shabir Ahluwalia, who rose to fame with Kumkum Bhagya, will soon be seen in Sony SAB's new romantic comedy show ‘Uff... Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’. Opposite him will be actress Ashi Singh.
Shabir Ahluwalia, known for his role in Kumkum Bhagya, will soon be seen in Sony SAB's upcoming romantic comedy ‘Uff... Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’. In this show, he plays the character Yug Sinha, while Ashi Singh will be seen opposite him as Kerry Sharma.
Recently, the trailer of ‘Uff... Yeh Love Hai Mushkil’, produced by Full House Media, was launched. The event was attended by Shabir Ahluwalia, Ashi Singh, Sony SAB's programming head Nimisha Pandey, writer Sonali Jaffar, and other members associated with the show and channel.
Sony SAB’s programming head Nimisha Pandey said,
At the trailer launch, when Nimisha Pandey was asked how this love story fits the vision of the channel, she said, “Sony SAB has a very simple yet strong vision – we want to create shows that can be enjoyed by the entire family together. It may sound easy, but achieving this is very difficult.
Choosing such stories, telling them in a way that entertains everyone from kids to elders, is a big challenge. Today, such content is very rare, which the entire family can sit and watch together. That’s why this story is very special to us – it’s entertaining, has drama, it’ll make you laugh, cry, and perhaps teach something that stays with you for a long time.
At a time when television is flooded with melodrama, this show brings a refreshing, simple, heartfelt story full of hope – and that’s why it fits perfectly with Sony SAB.”
Writer Sonali Jaffar added,
“When we say ‘opposites attract’, it sounds simple. But in reality, when two completely different people meet, it’s never easy.
One is a man who hates women, and the other is a positive girl who has been through a lot in life. When these two collide, a crackling chemistry emerges – and that’s where love begins.”
Why did you choose this intense and different role? How would you define your character?
Shabir responded, “Such roles are rare on TV. Usually, your character has the writer’s backing, but in this show, every character is unique. It’s not just a love story – it’s a clash of two contrasting ideologies.
One believes in love, the other is broken by it. He feels love gives nothing but pain. That’s why I found this character very challenging and interesting.”
Ashi on connecting with her character
Talking about her role, Ashi said,“I really connect with Kerry. Like her, I am also a positive person. No matter how many challenges life throws, she faces them with a smile – and I do the same. It’s better to smile through hardships than live in sorrow. That’s why I feel deeply connected to this character.”
After this, the show’s cast was invited on stage. After introductions, the cast was divided into ‘Kerry’ and ‘Yug’ teams for a film-related game, which Yug’s team won.
Shabir on his return to television
Speaking to the media during the trailer launch, Shabir expressed his excitement about returning to television. He said that after playing the roles of a 'perfect husband' or romantic hero for years, he deliberately chose a character with multiple layers and uniqueness. This new role will offer viewers something fresh and different.
Talking about the show, he added, “It’s a love story between two individuals with contrasting ideologies. When they meet, sparks fly – and whether it eventually turns into love or not, you’ll have to watch the show to find out.”
He further said, “Every time I take up a script, I look at how different and entertaining it is compared to my previous roles. It’s important to believe in the script before you believe in the role.”
He added, “When you think about your role, you become greedy and think, ‘This is my part’, and end up ignoring the script.
But the script needs to be entertaining and progressive. Viewers watch you for a long time – not just as a person, but for the work you do.
It’s a journey, a process – from reading the script to appearing on screen – and for me, that’s the most enjoyable part of storytelling.”
Ashi on working with Shabir
Ashi, who plays Kerry in the show, said,
“You’re going to really enjoy this show. But while doing it, I faced many challenges – for example, I play a lawyer, so it should not look like I’m acting as a lawyer, but that I am a lawyer.
I had to memorize many legal sections for this role.”
Talking about working with Shabir, she added,
“He’s nothing like his character Yug in real life. He’s actually a very calm person.”
