Shilpa Shirodkar, on the other hand, is making a strong comeback through this film. Directed by Venkat Kalyan and Abhishek Jaiswal, ‘Jatadhara’ is not just a supernatural tale but also a cinematic exploration of female strength, faith, and human emotion.

What was it about the script of ‘Jatadhara’ that made you say yes immediately?
Sonakshi Sinha: When our producer Prerna Arora offered me this film and said, “You’ll be playing Dhana Pisaachi,” I was surprised — I asked, “A Pisaachi? Me?” But when I heard the script, I was fascinated. It beautifully wove together modernity, spirituality, mythology, and folklore. I said yes right away.

Shilpa Shirodkar: My experience was quite similar. Right after I finished Bigg Boss, I got a call from Prerna. She told me the film was being made in both Hindi and Telugu and that there was a very special role for me. When I heard the script, I thought, “Wow, this opportunity may not come again.” So I immediately agreed. For me, ‘Jatadhara’ is the perfect film to mark my return to the industry.
Which scene challenged you the most as an actor, and made you feel proud once it was completed?
Sonakshi Sinha: The scene where Dhana Pisaachi first appears was the most difficult. There were multiple actors, elaborate sets, and several camera angles. But when I saw the final result, I felt the hard work truly paid off.

Shilpa Shirodkar: I completely agree with Sonakshi. That scene was technically and emotionally very demanding. But the way the team executed it with such precision and speed was truly commendable.
You’ve done comedy, romance, and intense drama — after playing such a layered character in ‘Jatadhara,’ where do you see yourself as an actor now?
Sonakshi Sinha: I’m proud that today I’m doing exactly the kind of work I want to do. That in itself is a big achievement. It’s been 15 years in the industry, and I’m still here — that’s what matters most to me. I love my work deeply and respect it immensely.

The industry has changed a lot over the years — what do you miss most about the old days?
Shilp Shirodkar: Back then, relationships in the film industry were built on friendship and trust. A film would take two or three years to complete, and the entire unit would become like a family. Sometimes, if I couldn’t take up a film, I would personally recommend another actress. For instance, I got ‘Bewafa Sanam’ because another actress backed out and suggested my name. Today, everything happens through agencies and managers, which is fine — but that old warmth and personal connection are missing.

While playing such intense characters, do you ever feel the line between reel and real life begins to blur?
Sonakshi Sinha: Never! I never take my work home. For me, work stays at the workplace. Life shouldn’t revolve only around films. I can easily switch on and switch off from my character.
