After a record-breaking super-natural biggest-ever box-office initial on August 15th, Rs 76,50 crores,(!!!) the film has reportedly crossed a massive Rs 283 crores as worldwide weekend gross and an India net of Rs 250 Crores! Now Stree-2 seems all set to enter the prestigious Rs 300 plus Crore club by this Friday. A direct sequel to the super-hit prequel 2018 film, this latest Stree 2 picks up where the first film left off, with several unanswered questions about the mysteries of Chanderi and Stree. This time, the town is haunted by a new scary, macabre villain who abducts the women of Chanderi, thus marking the return of Stree to eliminate him. Rajkummar Rao returns as “Rakshak” with his friends Bittu (Aparshakti Khurana), Jana (Abhishek Banerjee), and Rudra (Pankaj Tripathi). Besides the returning repeat-value stars, the film also packs some epic classic quirky comic cameos from Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya and Akshay Kumar, obviously indicating towards the next sequel ( Stree-3) in the near future.. The gripping-scary-thriller-comedy film plot revolves around a group of friends, led by Rajkummar's Vicky character a ladies-tailor. This time, their town, Chanderi, is terrorised by the dreaded-demon villain, Sarkata, and they need Stree’s help to defeat him. After a long wait, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s Vicky came together to save Chanderi with the OG Stree gang. Nearly, six years after the eerie-spooky events and doings of a mysterious woman (Shraddha Kapoor), Chanderi town is now haunted and terrorized by a new evil power ‘Aatank’ a headless villain known as Sarkata. Audiences are left shocked, thrilled, and intrigued by this new supervillain in Dinesh Vijan’s horror-comedy universe, about the super-tall actor who played Sarkata. Hailing from Jammu, Sunil Kumar, also known as The Great Khali of Jammu, plays the main antagonist in Stree 2. With a height of 7 feet, and 7 inches, he even surpasses the Indian wrestler. According to media-news reports Sunil serves as a celebrity senior constable in the Jammu and Kashmir Police and even indulges in various sports, especially wrestling. In 2019, he took part in the WWE Tryout. Speaking about Sarkata character, director Amar Kaushik opened up about how he chose Sunil Kumar for the role. “The casting team found him. We wanted a man with great height, and he perfectly fits the bill. We used his actual body shots while the face of Sarkata was CGI ( special effects) generated,” disclosed director Amar Kaushik, who had also directed movies like super-hit Stree ( 2018), Bala (2019) and Bhediya (2022) When contacted, eminent senior cine-trade expert analyst and candid film critic Amod Mehra, while highly appreciating the combined talent-efforts of the entire cast and crew and the VFX special effects in movie ‘Stree 2’ shared his frank comments with me. Who (according to Amod-jee) was the Man-of-The-Match behind this historic super-score run of Stree 2 at the box-office pitch? Said Amod-jee, “ For me the actual credit of the extraordinary box-office success goes to the ‘Stree 2’ visionary producer Dinesh Vijan for his strong conviction and full faith in the subject and in his director Amar Kaushik’s caliber. . Am told that Dinesh was totally involved in the making of the movie This kind of mega-blockbuster collections like ‘Stree2’ is an unprecedented phenomenon, for a relatively small or medium budget movies. Actually, I am also reminded of a small-budget movie ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’’ which emerged a super-duper hit movie way back in 1975. The religious devotional musical entertainer was hailed as a mega-blockbuster in that same year (1975) in which iconic movie Sholay had also released,” shared Amod Mehra who is optimistic that ‘Stree 2’ seems all set to enter the Rs 300 Crores plus Club in due course.
