The song "Khilte Hain Gul Yahan," sung separately as solos by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar in the film, is composed in Raag Bhimpalasi (also known as Abheri in Carnatic music), while "Megha Chhaye Aadhi Raat" is composed in Raag Patdeep (close to Gaurimanohari in Carnatic music).
According to reports, Saira Banu had initially signed on to play the female lead in the film, but had to withdraw due to illness.

It is said that during the film's grand premiere in Delhi, Ranjit had invited several members of his family. During the interval, when the cast was called onto the stage, Ranjit noticed that all his family members had left. He was surprised by this. When he returned home after the premiere, he found everyone angry with him. When he asked for the reason, he was scolded. Ranjit's mother angrily asked him, "How did you even get into the house? Get out! Rakhee is such a sweet girl, and you did such terrible things to her in the film?"
Hearing this, Ranjit burst into laughing and explained to his mother that it was all acting and not real.
