Sajid Khan, a well-known Bollywood filmmaker and host, has directed several hit films, including Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Heyy Babyy, Himmatwala, Humshakals, Darna Zaroori Hai, and the Housefull series. Six years ago, multiple Bollywood actresses and models accused him of sexual harassment as part of the #MeToo movement.

Thought of Ending His Life Several Times

Addressing these allegations, Sajid said, “Over the past six years, I’ve thought about ending my life many times. Despite getting clearance from the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA), I’ve been out of work. I’ve been trying to get back on my feet, but due to a lack of income, I had to sell my house and move into a rented flat. I started working when I was 14, after my father, actor-producer-director Kamran Khan, passed away. His death left me and my sister, Farah Khan (filmmaker and choreographer), drowning in debt. Today, I wish my mother, Menaka Irani, were alive to see me trying to rebuild my life. Life has been incredibly tough.”

“I Offended People”

Reflecting on his past actions, Sajid admitted, “In the early days of my career, I used sensational statements to grab attention. Today, everyone does it on YouTube, but back then, I did it for headlines. When I worked on TV, my job was to entertain people, even if it meant offending some. Looking back at old interviews, I wish I could go back in time and stop myself. I would tell that person, ‘Idiot, what are you saying? Why are you so blunt?’ Words hold no value; it’s your work that matters. My straightforwardness offended people. Whenever I realized it, I apologized, but when work stops, you start questioning your own life. I’ve calmed down now. I just want to work and live a peaceful life.”

Walked Away from Housefull 4

Talking about his decision to step away from Housefull 4, Sajid explained, “I left the film because I didn’t want shooting schedules to be disrupted. Producer Sajid Nadiadwala had built a massive set with 10-15 busy actors. Changing the schedule would have delayed the film by years. My case was a one-sided trial by the media. What does a man work for? Respect. And when that’s taken away, your self-esteem begins to crumble. I was known for my offensive humor and believed that offense was the best defense. I’ve never disrespected women and never will. I didn’t realize my words would cost me so dearly.”

Allegations Under MeToo
In 2018, actresses Sherlyn Chopra, Aahana Kumra, Mandana Karimi, Rachel White, Simran Suri, Dimple Paul, Saloni Chopra, and journalist Karishma Upadhyay accused Sajid Khan of sexual misconduct under the #MeToo movement.
