Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is regarded as one of the most courageous filmmakers in Indian cinema, known for his uncompromising truth-telling stories backed by deep research. After impactful films like The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files, he is now ready to present another haunting chapter of India’s history with The Bengal Files. Ever since its announcement, the film has been making headlines, surrounded by debates and controversies regarding its powerful visuals and story.
Vivek and his team, however, have clarified that every frame of the film is based on thorough research and historical facts. As the release date draws closer, the filmmaker has now dropped a shocking video revealing the truth about the Hindu genocide in West Bengal, while stating that “Some forces want to ban the film.” At the same time, he has assured that every question about why the film is being made will be answered, with the announcement of advance bookings opening tomorrow.
Sharing the video, he wrote, “Some forces want to ban The Bengal Files. Because it exposes the truth of the Hindu Genocide. But the truth cannot be silenced. Everyone asked me why I made this film. Now, watch it. Advance booking opens tomorrow.”

In the video, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri could be seen revealing shocking details from his extensive research behind The Kashmir Files—why he made it, how the world came to know the truth through it, and how it sparked conversations that led to change. He then draws parallels to The Bengal Files, explaining how the Hindu genocide began with Direct Action Day. Vivek shares that his team traveled to Bengal, interviewing survivors and victims’ families while collecting proofs and evidence to ensure authenticity.
He highlights how India’s Partition was written on the graves of millions, mostly Hindus, and how this tragic reality became the crux of his film. The video underscores his intent to bring untold stories from history to the big screen. Concluding on a haunting note, Vivek says, “If The Kashmir Files hurt you, The Bengal Files will haunt you.”
The Bengal Files is written by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi. It stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar. The film, presented by Tej Narayan Agarwal & I Am Buddha Productions, is part of Vivek’s Files trilogy, which includes The Kashmir Files and The Tashkent Files. The film will arrive in theatres on September 5, 2025.
