Salman Khan arrived at the event wearing an oversized full-sleeve T-shirt and denim (WPL Season 3 Mumbai) while Sohail opted for an orange T-shirt. WPL marks the debut of the Khan Tigers team in the league, owned by Sohail Khan himself. Co-founded by tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi, the league will be held from August 12 to 16 at the NESCO Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai.

Salman’s take on buying an IPL team

During the event, Salman was asked if he had ever thought about buying a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The superstar replied with honesty, saying: "Now we are too old for the IPL… We got an offer for a team a long time ago (World Padel League August dates), but we didn’t take it, and it’s not like we regret that decision. We are very happy with ISPL. This is our style—tennis ball cricket, gully cricket… the kind we actually play. Big leagues are not really for us; this is better for us.”

At the World Padel League Season 3 conference, (International players in WPL 2025) Salman humorously added that he would like to start his own leagues for classic childhood games like ‘hide and seek’ and ‘chor-police’. He said: "I would like to start leagues for marbles, gilli-danda, chain cook, hide and seek, and chor-police. Also, for educated people, I want to start a ‘doctor-doctor’ league.” His witty comment drew everyone’s attention. (Watch WPL live streaming)

Padel – Easy, Fun, and Injury-Free

Talking about the special features of the padel game, Salman said that it doesn’t require high expenses (Indian Padel Federation support WPL), large spaces, or fear of injuries. Unlike cricket, which needs helmets, pads, gloves, a large field, and expensive gear, padel can be played in every neighborhood.

What Sohail Khan said about the World Padel League

Owner of the Khan Tigers, Sohail Khan, expressed high hopes for the league’s future, saying: "As a family, we see ourselves as tigers. So when I got the chance to name my team, I chose ‘Khan Tigers’. I genuinely want this league (WPL teams Vedanta Leopards) to become as big as the IPL one day. But that won’t happen until Indian athletes start playing padel. That’s the only way it will grow. It all depends on how much the media promotes it and whether children start picking it up.”

Salman’s work front

On the work front, Salman will soon be seen hosting Bigg Boss 19, which starts on August 24. Apart from that, he is working on the film Battle of Galwan. His last release was Sikandar, in which he starred opposite Rashmika Mandanna.

Season 3 of the World Padel League (WPL) is scheduled to take place from August 12 to 16 at Mumbai’s NESCO Centre.
