TV’s popular actress Anita Hassanandani recently won the reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon. The show was not just a competition but also a journey of self-discovery and learning. Anita not only gave her best in every challenge but also won the hearts of the audience. In an exclusive interaction with Mayapuri journalist Shilpa Nalmawar, she spoke openly about her experiences, differences with Maera Mishra, family’s happiness, and the lessons she took away from the show. Here’s what she shared…
How was your journey on ‘Chhoriyan Chali Gaon’?
Anita: My journey was beautiful. When I accepted this show, I knew I would gain more than I give. I’m grateful for everything I learned in the village. This show gave me far more than I expected. I may have won the trophy, but the real reward was the love from people and the lessons from village life. (Anita Hassanandani winner Chhoriyan Chali Gaon)
You did many tasks in the village that city life doesn’t offer. How was that experience?
Honestly, I gave my all to every task. I decided to enjoy every moment, no matter how difficult. For example—touching cow dung. Yes, it’s smelly and dirty, but in the city, I’d never get this experience. So I thought, “Let’s try.” And when I realized its benefits, I was genuinely surprised. Farming, cooking, fire-making—everything has its purpose. Now, if someone in Mumbai makes a face at cow dung, it’ll feel strange because my perspective has changed. You also participated in cooking, even though you said you’re not a cook?
Yes! I never thought I’d cook, but there I was, cooking in the village. Now, no one can ask me, “What did you do?” I can proudly say, “I cooked in the village!” What we did there is probably something a city person has rarely experienced. I feel I’ve taken a step forward for life. I’m in my 40s, but for younger girls like Dolly, it was an amazing experience. (Chhoriyan Chali Gaon finale winner)
You did many physical tasks on the show. Were they challenging for you?
When I joined the show at this age, I decided to give my 100%. I put my heart and soul into every task. I got disappointed if I couldn’t do something. For example, the military task—I completed it the fastest. Ranvijay even said, “No one could do it faster than this.” That moment made me feel I had given my best. I approached every task with a “do or die” mindset. Perhaps that’s why the trophy is in my hands today.
How did your family react to your win, especially your son Aarav?
My family is very proud of me. Aarav is the happiest. He went to school and told everyone that his mom won the trophy. My main goal was for my family and Aarav to be proud of me, and that’s my biggest win. (Anita’s journey Chhoriyan Chali Gaon)
There were some differences on the show, especially with Maera. What would you like to say about that?
Honestly, no one hurt me, but I didn’t like Maera’s tone. She said she respected me, but the way she spoke later wasn’t nice. I never said anything against her, so when I realized she had such negative thoughts about me, I was surprised. Maybe she has her perspective, but I didn’t like it.
Who did you bond with the most on the show?
I really liked Dolly, Samriddhi, and Surabhi. Dolly is now like family—I always said she’s like the elder sister Aarav needed. Surabhi reminded me of my school friend, so I connected with her too. (Chhoriyan Chali Gaon show results)
What would you like to say to your fans?
I just want to say—without your love, we are nothing. Thank you so much for all your love and support. I hope you liked this new side of me.
