Exclusive-Adhyayan Summan-The, “Mafia”-we are fighting today also is one factor, that I was not getting work”

Adhyayan Summan who is all set to make a comeback with Ashram is happy for this second innings. There is no looking back for him after Ashram; he will be seen in his next flick,” Airport” which will roll by October if all goes well. The film will be shot in the scenic locations of London. Adhyayan started his filmy journey in 2008..with Haal-E-Dil and went on to do a film Jashnn with Mukesh Bhatt which did not get a proper release with the result the next ten years he was out of work…Adhyayan explains the struggles in his journey and also feels the ,” Mafia/groupism is responsible for this set back. Adhyyan is hopeful with “Ashram” a Prakash Jha web series…..

Why were you out of work for so many years in spite of the fact your film,”Jashnn “was critically acclaimed?

It is a very difficult thing to explain .There are a lot of factors that you come across, when an actor does not get the right kind of a role. For me the first couple of years were very difficult to understand –why, I was not getting work. Because the industry’s barometer basically is different-If you have given successful films only then you are cast in films. My film Raaz –The Mystery Continues” in 2009 did extremely well. I signed 10 films with the biggest of production houses. Mahesh Bhatt decided to take me after watching Raaz ….it was a huge achievement for me to work with him when I did that film. But Jashnn did not get a proper release. I never understood why the film was made then, I was called to the office and Mukesh Bhatt told me about it. My heart sank like I was banking on Jashan because it was my solo release. It is such a loved film it was beautiful yet the film did not get released though was critically acclaimed film.

Adding more he says,” Then my father decided to make a film “Heartless “the songs were liked. The “Mafia”/ groupism we are fighting today also is one factor, that I was not getting work.. I was getting anxious and depressed. I wanted to get out to work .I didn’t have the answer. My father then produced a film, “Heartless” as I was anxious to work.

Working with Director Prakash Jha, how did it all happen?

As an actor I and all other actors too have been waiting to work with a good director, right script and the right role. I have had my own journey. I am glad to be working with Prakash Jee. I have a long connection with him. I assisted him when I was 17 years old, when I came out finishing my schooling from New York and had done my diploma in direction. I had gone and assisted Prakash jee for a film….dil dosti .Today; I am one of his lead actors in his show,” Ashram”.I am  absolutely delighted to be a part for a show with such a stellar cast. I am keeping my finger crossed that if the audiences like my character.

Do you consider Prakash Jha as your god father for giving you a chance after so many years?

I shall always be indebted to Prakash Jha who is responsible for the beginning of my second innings. It is the dream of every actor to be   portrayed .Yes; undoubtedly I would consider him my God father… I did not get any proper opportunity for so long. He gave me a chance to begin my second innings and showcase my talent, without being biased. For the first time I am  working in an ensemble  cast .We are not there in the poster nor in the trailer,  but no one is selfish ,we want the show to do well and obviously our characters too will shine alongside.

What is your next film ,”Airport”- all about?

Basically it’s about two people who meet on a flight from Mumbai to New York and it’s how they get emotionally on the flight. This boy has a flying phobia and he has to take the longest journey ever to America .He decides to   face his fear. This fear changes his life forever; it’s a coming of age film which is inspired from my life. A person I had met in my life and never saw her again it’s based on that.

Your future assignments elaborate?

The shooting of my next film, “Airport will start as soon, it was to start in April but got delayed because of the pandemic. The film could not be announced owing to Covid 19.But now the producers will announce the film soon. Film, “Airport shooting will begin in London next year. Then I have an Album which is all set to release soon. About my Biopic -many of my well-wishers and I do feel there is a lot about my life that can be told .I will make it later. However, I continue to fight with everything in life.
