As India celebrates 72 years of its Independence, the strongly knit community of Gokuldham Society from the show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC) too came together to commemorate the day with much festivities and fun. This year, the day was all the more special for the society’s residents as Raksha Bandhan fell on the same day and; while Roshan, Babita and the rest of the mahila mandal tied rakhi to their adored brother – Patrakar Popatlal, Tapu sena dedicated the day to the Indian military by donning uniforms of the Army, Navy, Air Force and the Special Task Commandos. The society also took this opportunity to congratulate ISRO for the successful launch of Chandrayaan -2. The women and men of Gokuldham were a delight to watch as they adorned their traditional costumes and the merriment reached its peak with Iyer hoisting the Tricolor flag.“As we celebrate our Independence Day, we also wish to celebrate the successes that our nation has achieved over the years. The recent launch of our country’s Chandrayaan-2 is one such success which was another big leap towards progress. Many salutes and heartiest congratulations to the team at ISRO that successfully launched the satellite and I wish everyone a happy Independence Day,” says Iyer akaTanuj Mahashabde.

“We wish everyone a very happy Independence Day and take this opportunity to thank our soldiers at the borders for their highest service to the country. We decided to dress in the uniforms that represent the combined might of the Indian Military and wow! even merely wearing the uniforms gave us a feeling of pride and strength that cannot be expressed in words. We are so proud of our country and Tapu sena wishes everyone a very Happy Independence Day,” says Raj Anadkat aka Tapu.“Happy Independence Day everyone J! We all are so happy!! All the festivities and the celebrations are really so beautifully arranged in the society. But tying rakhi to Popatbhai makes the occasion more special for all of us in the mahila mandal at Gokuldham. We are really happy to have found a brother in him and we assure him that we will find him his bride this year,” says Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal aka Roshan Singh Sodhi.“I too wish everyone a very Happy Independence Day. However it is also Raksha Bandhan and I am so happy that I have found so many sisters in Gokuldham who love me like their real brother. I am grateful to them for always being by my side whether it is about scouting a bride for me or whenever I have felt low in my life. I am very fortunate to be part of this great big loving Gokuldham family,” says Shyam Pathak aka Popatlal.
