Film Companion announced its first FC Disruptors list today recognizing prime innovators in entertainment between July 1, 2018, and August 2019. FC Disruptors are people who’ve shaken up things, ignited conversations, created new ways of seeing or found the beating pulse of an audience. The contribution of these pioneers of creativity has paved the way for many others who aspire to follow in their footsteps and make a change. The list not only includes names from Bollywood but also acknowledges the path-breaking work of talents from south cinema, stand-up comics, YouTube and animation artists who chose to address unconventional subjects through their art. Representative across multiple categories of entertainment, the list itself was created by the Film Companion jury, aided by researcher Trupti Kanade. They put together names of people, who with their work, brought value to the Indian entertainment industry.
Speaking on the list and how and why it came about Anupama Chopra, founder of Film Companion said, "I love the idea of disruption. The idea behind coming up with such a list was to recognize the contributions of some of the key artists of the Indian film industry and the way they have changed Indian entertainment. Of course, lists are designed to create debate - we spent months arguing accomplishments and who should and shouldn’t be on the list. The FC Disruptor list is a snapshot of some of the most exciting work in entertainment."
