Taapsee Pannu and Vijay Raaz starrer film 'Shabash Mithu' is based on the life of India's captain Mithali Raj, whose life is depicted on screen. You will get to see How her life has its ups and downs, and how she overcomes it to give herself an identity, and how she brings the Indian Cricket women's team so high.
If you are a cricket fan You can go and watch this movie. We have already seen a lot of movies on cricket or the biopic based on the life of a cricketer like M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, 83 and Azhar but this is the first time we will be seeing a movie made on the life and journey of a female cricketer.
Story: Talking about the story of the film, it begins with Mithali's childhood where she performs Bharatanatyam dance. She learns, and there she meets Noori who loves to play cricket. Noori absolutely Likes to live like boys and stays ahead in fights, while on the other hand Mithali remains completely calm.
Later, Noori teaches Mithali to play cricket and makes her practice, watching two girls playing cricket. You will like it very much. And this is the entry of coach Sampat Rai (Vijay Raj) who later gives coaching to Mithali and Noori and this is where Mithali's career begins.
Then she is selected for the tour of Ireland and England and later becomes the captain of the Indian team. After getting the captaincy, there is a pressure on her to lift the women's team to a big height, for which she fights a lot which is also shown in the film.
In the second half of the film Mithali's struggle is shown, to see her fight with the board and what else happened in her life you have to watch the movie. In the climax we will get to see a lot of cricket and also get to see many glimpses of World Cup 2017.
India has performed very well in the World Cup , and women's cricket has made a different identity for itself. Full combination of cricket and emotion will be seen in the movie.
Direction - Talking about the direction of the film, Srijit Mukherjee has directed it very well. He has made many Bengali films in the past which have been a huge hit. He has also received National Awards such as 'Jatheeshwar', 'Chatushkone', 'Rajkahini' and 'Ek J Chilo Raja'.
He has well taken care of Screenplay, script, research work and plot of the film. Although the cricket scenes in the film look a bit fake. It could have been worked on, but the rest is good.
Acting: Talking about acting, Taapsee Pannu has tried to give her best which you will also get to see in the film. Vijay Raj has also acted very well, and as much as his role in the movie, he played it very beautifully in the film. The co-stars of the film have also played their role very well.
Conclusion - If we explain this film in one word, then it would be 'ENTERTAINING'. You will get to see emotion in the film, the struggle will be seen and how women's cricket gets recognition it will also be seen.
There is also a power packed performance by Taapsee and also the tadka of Vijay Raj. Srijit Mukherjee has served this movie to the audience, it's just a few salads and papads are missing like VFX and Cricket scenes that look a bit fake. I will give this film 3.5 stars and you can go and watch this film in theatres.
