Some years ago someone very dear to me asked me what purpose films fulfilled in society and the country , and l had said , nothing serves society better than films - Ali Peter John

Today , films have become a part of life like nothing else has . Films , in fact , have become a way and part of life .

No other medium has sent home messages of peace , love , brotherhood and humanity like films have .

Films are today considered the best and the easiest ways of educating , enlightening and entertaining people .

And the films made on different festivals are a way of promoting unity and spreading communal harmony , not only in India but even in the most powerful and weak countries .

And if there is one festival which has been strengthening human relationships , it is the festival of Raksha Bandhan .

Diwaali , Holi , Christmas and Eid may be bigger festivals celebrated in the most fanciful ways , but Raksha Bandhan is a simple festival that has been a festival that is more celebrated in films than any of the other festivals .

There have been more than hundred films based on the festival of Raksha Bandhan, but l give below some of the important films celebrating the bond between a brother and a sister . Take a look at the films and l hope you will agree with my choice of films .

HARE RAMA HARE KRISHNA- This film released in the year 1971 had Dev Anand and Zeenat Amaan playing the brother and sister who get separated during their childhood.

The song , "phoolon ka taaron ka sabka kahena hai " was the complete description of the bond between a brother and a sister .

The film was a super hit and saw the relationship take a new meaning for the new generation .

CHOTI BAHEN- Balraj Sahni and Nanda played lead roles . It was released in the year 1959 and was a hit because of its strong storyline about a brother and a sister.

HUM APKE HAIN KAUN - The story of Hum Apke Hain Kaun revolves two lovers who forget their love in the quest of saving the lives of their respective brother and sister. It stars Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, Mohnish Bahl and Renuka Shahane.

PYAAR KIYA TOH DARNA KYA - lt was released in 1998 with Salman Khan, Kajol and Arbaaz Khan in leading roles. The protective nature of a brother is depicted in the film.

AGNEEPATH- This 2012 film had Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles. Amidst all the feeling of revenge , the hero is united with his long lost sister and that is the emotional highlight of the story.

SARBJIT- ” Sarbjit” is based on the real life story of Sarbjit who was abducted by Pakistani forces.

It is about the tryst of a sister who crosses the borders in the quest of bringing her brother back.

DIL DHADAK NE DO shows how a brother and sister save their family from breaking off. Their bond is a major highlight of the film.

RAKSHA BANDHAN - It is planned as an unusual film and talks about the bond of a brother and sister in present times .

It is being directed by Anaand L Rai and has Akshay Kumar with Bhumi Pednekar and launches a few talented new girls .

It will be the first such film for the khiladi kumar who is trying hard to fit into the family slot and also trying to fortify his image as the modern day patriotic hero .
