Flashback and looking forward : Ashok Shekhar enters 50th year of his showbiz career

Eminent film and TV shows producer and impresario Ashok Shekhar ( late ‘legendary doyen actor-film-maker Chandrashekhar’s son) seemed delighted even as he is fast-approaching a major milestone of his multi-media career - Chaitanya Padukone

Enthused Ashok , “Have entered into the 50th Year of my career in the Bollywood Industry, having started my journey with late iconic film-maker Shakti-da Samanta on 25th March 1973 right up to 1983.

Used to work as production-head for his movies including Barsaat Ki Ek Raat (1981) and was also with Shakti-da when he made movies much earlier like ‘Ajnabee and Anurodh.

It’s a matter of pride for me that I am the son of versatile veteran actor-producer-director and social-welfare activist Chandrashekhar-ji--- he was an institution, learnt so much from him.

Then I had the fabulous opportunity of working with legendary star-actors like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjeev Kumar, Mithun-da, Rishi Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, Jeetendra ---which was like a super-dream.

Also had opportunity of working with thespian Dilip Kumar-saab for number of social cause events,” recalls Ashok who also produced landmark hit TV shows on various channels including ‘Parivartan’ directed by Bharat Rangachary .

“ It was also wonderful working with hugely-talented Vivek Agnihotri ( of ‘The Kashmir Files’ fame) for multiple Saturday Suspense one-hour thrillers, “ recalls Ashok who mentions that he had also “assisted yet another iconic film-maker B R Chopra-saab in movies like ‘Awaam’ and ‘Dehleez’.”

Besides producing number of hit TV serials on most of the TV channels and handling ‘talent management’ , dynamic impresario Ashok has also been organizing doing mega-events in India and at foreign locations.

“In 2012 I had specially organized prestigious bonafide Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Awards mega-event, of the film-fraternity.

Where superstars Dilip Kumar and Amitabh Bachchan came together on the same stage-platform, after a gap of possibly three decades,” shares Ashok who was also actively associated with Tutu Films banner (producer Pradeep Sharma ) in movies like ‘Mar Mitenge’ and ‘Daav Pech’ , besides other banner films like ‘Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai’,

What does he now look forward to in 2022-‘23 ? Discloses Ashok, “ In the 50th Year of my career, I have an upcoming TV show Hum Kisise Ke Kam Nahin and upcoming OTT Web Films ‘Minus Degree Love Story’ and OTT web-series‘Kal Kya Hoga Kisko Pataa’. .

Have also started funding approved reputed TV Channel Shows with backing of my Investor-Friends like Jugraj Jain and few others.

I will also be one of the Advisory Panel Members for proposed ‘Cine Buster’ Mega Awards Show hosted by ‘showman’ Ronnie Rodrigues, to be held at a foreign location in the third week of September 2022 , reveals Ashok Shekhar..
