Following The Bollywood Way, Makers Of Fatteshikast And Girlz Mutualy Decide To Avert Box Office Clash

Shifting of release dates of big-ticket films is very common in Bollywood. Be it for a Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Akshay Kumar film, makers generally avoid releasing big films on the same day.The same is being seen in the Marathi industry now. To avoid a clash between the upcoming Marathi films, Fattehshikast and Girlz, the makers of both films have mutually decided on a solution. Considering the films are among the most anticipated ones of 2019, the entire industry was following this development. Fatteshikast, a historical directed by Digpal Lanjekar, is a follow up to last year's hit Farzand, while Girlz, a complete mass entertainer targeting youth from Vishal Devrukhkar, is the third film from the director who is known for hits like Boyz and Boyz 2.Both films were to release on Nov 15, but after a meeting between producers Naren Kumar (Girlz) and Anil Thadani from AA Films and Ajay Arekar from Almonds Creations (Fatteshikast), the release date of Girlz has been shifted to Nov 29. The makers felt that since a film involves a lot of hard work from the concerned teams, it wouldn't be right to go ahead with clashing dates which might hamper both the films' business. Girlz will now release on November 29. Fatteshikast will retain its original release date, Nov 15.

Naren said, "Both films are of different genres and we felt the audience should enjoy both. Girlz is an entertainer and Fatteshikast, a period film. Both have their strong points and I think the audience is looking forward to both these films with bated breath. Besides, the industry is like a close-knit family and this decision was taken so that makers of both films will benefit from it."Adding to it, Anil and Ajay jointly said, "There is no point in stepping on each other's shoes when you have other options open. We discussed with the makers of Girlz and came to this mutual decision in the interest of both the teams involved. After Farzand, Fatteshikast will bring another piece of Maratha history to the big screen and we are sure it will strike a chord with viewers. Ditto is the case with Girlz. The makers have a carved a space for themselves in the genre and we are sure the release of their film is also highly awaited." Fatteshikast boasts of a cast including Chinmay Mandlekar, Annup Sonii, Mrinal Kulkarni and others, while the star cast of Girlz is yet to be revealed.
