Bollywood's one of the finest actresses Konkona Sen tried her hand in direction last year with A Death In The Gunj. The film features Vikrant Massey, Tillotama Shome, Om Puri, Tanuja, Gulshan Devaiah, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh and Ranvir Shorey in the lead cast. Besides form direction, Konkona also wrote the script for the film. She even won many awards including New York Indian Film Festival, 18th Jio MAMI Film Festival and Filmfare award for the best-direction.
2. Amir Khan
The perfectionist of Bollywood Aamir Khan is known for his acting chops and series of his hit films. Apart from the old hit films he also is known for delivered many message-oriented films like Dangal, PK, 3 Idiots and latest Secret Superstar. but the actor also Aamir Khan directed one of Indian cinema’s finest gems, Taare Zameen Par.
3. Naseeruddin Shah
From Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro to Aiyaary, Naseeruddin Shah showed his impeccable acting skills and versatility as an actor. He grabbed our attention by his performance even in small roles. His stint as a director too didn’t turn out badly, and he gave us a beautiful film with Yun Hota Toh Kya Hota.
4. Sunny Deol
The action hero of Bollywood who is known for his dhai kilo ka haath tried his hand at the direction for the first time in 1999. Sunny Deol directed Dillagi starring Bobby Deol, Urmila Matondkar and himself. The Gaddar actor once again wore the director’s hat for 2016 release film Ghayal Once Again which is a sequel to his own 1990 hit film Ghayal. Now the actor is all set to launch his son, Karan Deol through his directorial film, Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas.
5. Ajay Devgn
The quintessential action hero of Bollywood, Ajay directed a romantic film in 2008, U Me Aur Hum, starring his wife Kajol and the actor himself. The film that was loosely based on Notebook. Ajay is back again behind the camera in 2016 with Shivaay.
6. Arbaaz Khan
Arbaaz Khan is never remembered for his acting. But his stint as a director wasn’t as bad as his acting. He directed the second instalment fo Dabangg which was a box-office hit.
7. Nandita Das
Nandita Das always choose to do artistic films over commercial blockbusters. The actress who is well-known for films like Fire, 1947 Earth and many more critically acclaimed films, also praised for her directorial debut Firaaq in 2008, which was based on the 2002 Gujarat riots. Now the actor turned director all set to direct another film based on the life of Saadat Hasan Manto who was very popular a writer, playwright and author and he was known for his honest writing which was ahead of its time. The role of Manto will be played by none other than Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
