From Baby Bhanurekha To The Most Beautiful Enigma Of Our Times, Rekha

She was Baby Bhanurekha in her first ever film in which Raj Kumar, “the God of Kannada Cinema"was the hero, the “God"and all those who were associated with the film have become a part of ancient history, but the Baby has grown into one of the most gorgeous and even one of the most controversial miracles of our times.

She made her debut in Hindi film at the age of thirteen in a film called “Anjana Safar"(later called “Do Shikari", she was forced to do a kissing scene with her hero, Biswajeet, her hero is now in nowhere land while she is still the ruling Diva of Indian Cinema and doesn't even remember her hero or anyone connected with it, but she remembers the humiliation and harassment she had to go through......

She had her taste of big success with Mohan Segal's “Saawan Bhaadon", it was a very successful film, today, her director, Mohan Segal and her first big hero, Navin Nischol are dead and gone, but Rekha is still the ravishing Queen of Indian films

She had many female contemporaries like Hema Malini, Raakhee and the earlier heroines like Vyjayanthimala, Waheeda Rehman, Sadhana, Nutan and Saira Banu among many others and then a whole new generation of actresses led by Sridevi, Madhuri Dixit, Juhi Chawla and Jayaprada followed by other new and younger actresses but she survived them all and can still give all of them a massive complex, her arrival at a party or any function or event makes the heads of women who were once her age and are old mothers and grandmothers now, but she is more beautiful now then she was when those women considered her“an ugly black duck"or“a black buffalo", names rusty were shared by her heroes, directors and producers who tried their best to wish her away but miserably failed as she kept growing from success to more success, to a mystery and a mirage difficult to understand or solve

She worked with almost every big hero, be it Jeetendra who she once called“my God in white shoes", Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, all the Kapoors, Shatrughan Sinha Rajnikanth and down to Rakesh Roshan and his son, Hritikh Roshan and even worked with Akshay Kumar and his one time love interest, Raveena Tandon and stole the limelight from them, Akshay is luckily for him still dominating the scene, but Raveena or Karishma or any other artist of that time and this time have to make way when there is even a mention of Rekha and they all still wonder how“Madam Re"has continued to mesmerise people down generations and for almost half a decade, she has worked with too many other actors and directors, big or small, commercial or art filmmakers, she has seen the changing tides and trends in the industry, but she has been ruling the waves whatever the tide

She has worked with all the heroes, but there were also all those stories about her affairs of the heart, there was Kiran Kumar (Kin Kin), there was Vinod Mehra (Vin Vin), there was a time when she  even married a young businessman from Delhi called Mukesh Aggarwal, who strangely committed suicide a few days after marrying her and she was back to work, shooting before a crowd of lakhs of people for a film called “Phool Bane Angaarey''with the king of action, Rajnikanth as her hero, but she had more daring action scenes to do than him and she continued working and growing more gorgeous and younger with time.....

But the greatest phase in her life happened when an already married superstar, Amitabh Bachchan came into her life as if some God had answered her age-old prayer, he came, she saw and they gave love a new meaning, he had the power to transform her life from what she was to someone who was not the Rekha she was before she met him, their chemistry was unbeatable in every film they did together and they did some of the best from “Do Anjaane"and“Mr Natwarlal''to“Muqadaar Ka Sikandar"to “Silsilla", their love story faced storms and typoons, but their love had the power to overcome, life however had to come in the way of love and the love story ended, but I and many like him still wonder if it really has, she still doesn't take his name, but only calls “him", she still makes it a point to have a seat in the same row wear he is, even if he is with his wife and family and looks at him more than the world around her and her beautiful eyes look at him as if they were made only for him, people all over still love to believe that they are in love, I can say that I know that she is madly and divinely in love with him and the ‘sindoor'in her ‘maang'tells a million stories about what she thinks about him and what she believes he is for her, I have been a witness to any number of love stories, but the undying story of her undying love for him is for me the greatest love story I would have been a witness to in this life and even if at all there is a life after this, life can be anything great for Rekha and life and God have given her all that is best, but for her life is meaningful and worth living only as long as she knows and believes that she is still and will always be in love with him whether he reciprocates, responds and respects her love for him or not....

She has spent an entire lifetime in the dream world of films, she has seen empires rise and fall, she has seen giants and geniuses grow and fall and mingle with the dust she has seen real life gods, some who have been life gods to her but there have been some gods who have also been gods with masques covering their true selfish and sinister faces, she has experienced every human feeling, but I feel she has many more feelings to experience, because a woman like Rekha is sent into this world by the Creator to show that she is his chosen one and that the world he has created cannot touch the tip of her nail on her little finger of her right hand

She doesn't have the work she can still do, but the kind of work she has done so far is more than the work done by a hundred other Rekhas

She believes that she is the beloved one of God created to show what a Rekha like her can do, a Rekha who has no line (Rekha) to limit or stop her rise to an height which even she doesn't know, a mystery which only the God who created her knows and all those who have been lucky to know at least an nth about the truth about her should consider himself or herself extremely fortunate because a Rekha like her happens only once in a way and I have always considered myself to be lucky to live during a time when my life had a Rekha in it and she will always be one of the chief reasons for to be grateful to God for this life he has gifted me with.
