Indian cinema's veteran musician Khayyam last rites to be performed today (August 20) with full state honors. He died in a hospital in Mumbai in the night of 19 August. On the other hand, due to Khayyam Saheb's displeasure, the entire Bollywood is paying tribute to him with moist eyes.
Khayyam Saheb received the Padma Bhushan from the Government of India. According to family sources, his last rites to be performed today at 4.30 pm in the cemetery located in Char Bungalow area of Mumbai. Earlier, at 4 pm, his last journey will be taken from his residence in Juhu. Khayyam Saab was 92 years old and undergoing many diseases due to his age.
For the last 10 days, he was admitted to a hospital in Mumbai, where he was undergoing treatment. As soon as the news of his demise on Monday night became common, the film industry was mourned. Javed Akhtar, Sonu Nigam, Talat Aziz and filmmaker Ashok Pandit reached the hospital in the night. His body was then brought to his residence, where people associated with the industry are reaching for his last visit. Here, the process of paying tribute to him continues on social media.
Let us tell you that Khayyam, born in Rahon village of Punjab, started his career as a musician in 1953. His film 'Phir subah Hogi' which came the same year earned him recognition as a musician. In a career spanning four decades, he was recognized as a music composer of very low but excellent music.
He received the Sangeet Natak Academy Award in 2007, while in 2011 he was awarded the Padma Bhushan by the Government of India. Apart from 'Phir subah Hogi', among the films in which his music was discussed a lot, sometimes, films like Umrao Jaan, Thodi si Bewafayi, Bazaar, Noori, Dard, Razia Sultan, Parvat ke us Paar, Trishul are included.
