Jyothi Venkatesh
The petite actress popular for playing some of the feminist roles on television, Razia Sultan, Draupadi in Suryaputra Karn , a gang rape victim Amala in Kya Qusoor hai Amala ka Pankhuri Awasthy is ready to take on a new challenge this time around albeit as a student. An English Honours graduate, Pankhuri worked as a marketing executive in the hospitality sector before taking the big plunge into acting. The actress tied the knot early last year with her long time boyfriend, Suryaputra Karn co-star actor Gautam Rode in a private ceremony. The actress now plans to go back to her books & believes in completing her post graduation too, she shares her plan, ‘During college I had set a timeline for myself but life has its own plan. I always wanted to be an actor and that will always be my first love. I was actively involved in theatre, both in school & college. College got over & before I could sit back & ponder over my career options, I got placed in a major group of hotels & worked for 3 years straight before acting actually materialised. Now that I’ve been here for about 4 years, I know how this industry functions, you either have no time for anything or you have a lot of time till you wait for the next interesting opportunity to find you.
‘Now that I have some time before something interesting comes my way, I realised I must utilise this break to complete my masters. As a part of my life plan apart from acting, I wanted to pursue Masters & also get a B.ed as teaching gives me immense peace, just as my mother. It took me a lot of time to just make up my mind & then I began researching. I have finally applied for the course & my examination is due in June & I’m preparing for it & enjoying the process. My family’s been very supportive through this whole process which was a further motivation to accomplish my goals. I’ll complete my B.ed first & eventually my MA in English ,’ she adds.
