GEAR UP FANS! DEEPIKA AND BHANSALI TO REUNITE FOR ANOTHER FILM

All SLB-Deepika fans out there, brace yourselves! After completing her hattrick with Padmavati  Sanjay Leela Bhansali's current favourite Deepika Padukone has signed another project with him. Deepika has bagged a role in Bhansali's biopic on celebrated poet-lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi. Deepika will be playing renowned poetess Amrita Pritam, Ludhianvi's muse. The film is produced by Bhansali and directed by debutant Jasmeet Reen.

Earlier, there was news that Priyanka Chopra was chosen to play the poetess, but she reportedly turned down the project and the role then went to Deepika. Abhishek Bachchan will play Sahir Ludhianvi in the film.

According to a report by Quint, a source close to Bachchan was noted as saying, "Abhishek has begun preparing for the biopic. He will begin rigorous interaction with Sanjay Bhansali after Padmavati releases. But his groundwork on Sahir has begun in earnest. He is regularly listening to the immortal repertoire of Sahir’s lyrics from Guru Dutt’s Pyasa to Yash Chopra’s Trishul. Abhishek’s father had the good fortune to interact with Sahir when he worked in Kabhi Kabhie and Trishul. So Bachchan Saab is able to provide plenty  of invaluable  inputs to Abhishek’s preparation."

The very talented poet and film lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi is credited for many Popular Bollywood songs.  Aye Meri Zohrajabeen, Aja Tujhko Pukare Mera Pyaar, Sarr Jo Tera Chakraye, Main Pal Do Pal Ka, Kabhi Kabhi are some of the songs from his long list.

This is not the first time Abhishek and Deepika are teaming up for a film. Both the actors earlier came together for the 2010 release Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey, which was based on the novel Do and Die by Manini Chatterjee and was directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.

Produced by SLB, the Ludhianvi's biopic is possibly set to release next.
