'GHOOMAR' IS PROOF WHY SLB AND DEEPIKA WILL ALWAYS MAKE FOR A LETHAL COMBINATION!

Are you baffled, stumped and gobsmacked after watching this song? Because you aren't allowed to feel any other way. Just when you begin to believe that Sanjay Leela Bhansali might have left no stone turned, he turns one and throws it right in your way making you realise that he's always going to outdo himself, ALWAYS.  And just when you thought Deepika Padukone couldn't have looked more stunning, she makes you fall short of adjectives, quite LITERALLY.

The two are on their way to creating a legacy that would forever remain unparalleled. The three-minute song shows Deepika performing a traditional Rajasthani dance form, Ghoomar, which was performed by princesses and queens and newlywed brides. The song has been sung by Bhansali's muse and our favourite Shreya Ghoshal and composed by Bhansali himself. A source from the team told Hindustan Times, “Deepika spent hours training under the guidance of Jyothi D Tommaar, assistant director and trustee of Gangaur Ghoomar Dance Academy. The performance has been choreographed by Kruti Mahesh Midya.”

Deepika says that Ghoomar goes down as one of the most difficult songs she's ever performed on and Bhansali has ever directed, and we don't really have to ask why because the video acts as a testament. While talking to Hindustan Times about the song, Deepika said, “I started preparing for this film and character several months before we started filming. But it was for the Ghoomar song that I walked onto the set as Padmavati for the first time.” She further added, “The shooting of the film began with this song, and I’ll never forget that day. I remember approaching my mark for the first shot. It was almost as if Padmavati’s soul had entered my body. I could feel her presence; and, in fact, I still do. It’s one of those rare moments in an actor’s life where it’s going to take a very long time before it actually leaves the system.”
