Yash Chopra wanted to become an engineer

- Yash Chopra was born in Lahore on 27 September 1932. He studied in Lahore. In 1945, his family settled in Ludhiana, Punjab. Yash Chopra came to Mumbai with the desire to become an engineer. But fate had something else in store for him.

- Yash Chopra's elder brother BR Chopra was also a well-known producer-director of Bollywood. Yash ji worked as a co-director with his brother in the beginning of his career. He worked in films like 'Naya Daur', 'Ek Hi Raasta' and 'Sadhna'.

As a director, Yash ji made his first film 'Dhool Ka Phool' in 1959. He made 'Dharmputra' in 1961 and the multi-starrer film 'Waqt' in 1965. He directed 22 films and produced 51 films.

- In 1973, he founded the production company Yash Raj Films. During their struggling days, many actors refused to take their wages from him, but Yash Chopra paid them the full amount. Yash Chopra gave stardom status to many stars through his films.

- In 1975, with the film 'Deewar', he expanded the image of megastar Amitabh Bachchan as 'Angry Young Man'. Yash Chopra is called the magician of romantic films. - Shahrukh played the role of Rahul Mehra in 'Darr'. Very few people know that Shahrukh Khan was not Yash Chopra's first choice. At that time this role was offered to Ajay Devgan but due to lack of dates, Ajay Devgan refused the film.

- Then Aamir Khan was approached for this but he too did not show interest in it. Because Aamir did not want to do a negative role. It is said that after this the relationship between Aamir and Yash ji had deteriorated a lot.

Aamir-Yash Chopra's relationship got spoiled because of Shahrukh

- After Ajay Devgan and Aamir refused, this role finally came to Shahrukh. Sunny Deol played the hero's role in the film but the villain's role became more popular and Shahrukh became a superstar overnight with this film.

- After this film, Shahrukh and Sunny Deol never worked together. In an interview, Sunny Deol expressed his displeasure and said that 'the villain in the film was presented more powerfully than the hero. When I came to know that the ending of the film was such a golden one, I was shocked.'

- In an interview given to Shahrukh Khan on his birthday, about a month before his death, Yash Chopra said that Jab Tak Hai Jaan would be the last film directed by him. After this, he would retire and give more time to his family. In 2005, he was awarded the Padma Bhushan.
