Ajay Devgn-Kajol Mock Indian Food
A recent conversation between Ajay Devgn and Kajol has been widely criticized on social media, where Kajol mentions that their daughter doesn't like Indian food and prefers Japanese cuisine. In the same conversation, Ajay Devgn talks about their son Yug, saying that he enjoys eating all kinds of food but particularly likes mutton. While this comment didn't necessarily call for any criticism, vegetarians on social media have started trolling the Devgn family, accusing them of mocking Indian food. Some even pointed out that those who discuss meat-eating should be mindful, as every statement they make can influence society in various ways.
Farah Khan Mocks Holi, Calls it a Festival for 'Chhapri' People
The Bollywood film industry has always had a special bond with the festival of Holi. Many Bollywood songs celebrating Holi have become iconic, and the celebrations are synonymous with the film industry. However, just before Holi, director and choreographer Farah Khan made a controversial remark that has stirred up a lot of anger on social media. While appearing as a judge on the Celebrity MasterChef show, Farah referred to Holi as the "favorite festival of chhapri (unsophisticated) people." In a BTS (behind the scenes) video, Farah can be heard making this statement, which didn’t sit well with Hindu festival enthusiasts. Many have called for a boycott of Farah Khan, accusing her of disrespecting the festival.
Vishal Dadlani’s Criticism of the Kumbh Mela
Singer-composer Vishal Dadlani is known for speaking his mind, and he recently stirred controversy by challenging Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath over the purity of the water at the Kumbh Mela. News had spread that after 55 crore people bathed in the Ganga, the water was contaminated. According to the National Green Tribunal’s (NGT) report, the water had high levels of fecal bacteria and total coliform, which are harmful to health. In response, CM Yogi assured the public that the Ganga water was still pure, encouraging people to bathe without fear. Vishal Dadlani, however, challenged the CM to drink the water himself. His comments were met with severe backlash from devotees who criticized him for undermining their faith in the religious significance of the Kumbh.
Bollywood's Off-Key Comments
These instances highlight a growing trend in Bollywood where celebrities speak off-the-cuff without thinking about the impact of their words. Whether it’s mocking a cultural tradition or challenging deeply rooted beliefs, these off-hand remarks often make headlines for all the wrong reasons. Instead of speaking without caution, Bollywood personalities should consider the weight their words carry, particularly when they have the power to influence millions.
