Rajesh Khanna was present as the chief guest at Navrangpura Sports Club. Dimple Kapadia was also present there. It was there that both of them saw each other for the first time. 

The closeness increased after meeting at the party

It is believed that the two met again during a party. When Rajesh Khanna saw Dimple Kapadia at the party, he fell in love with her right there. The conversation between the two started from there. Also, Rajesh Khanna was impressed by Dimple Kapadia's beauty. At the same time, Dimple Kapadia's film 'Bobby' was released. There were also rumours at that time that Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia were dating Rishi Kapoor in those days but they broke up during the film. 

He proposed to Dimple Kapadia soon after their breakup

She had given up her stardom for Rajesh Khanna

Dimple Kapadia says about her marriage with Rajesh Khanna, "Marrying Rajesh Khanna was the biggest gift from God for me. I don't think my success was as great as marrying this superstar. I used to be a big fan of him, it was like a dream come true."

Dimple further says, "I was only 16 years old when I got married. I had no regrets about giving up stardom for the sake of my family life. I think this was my best period."
