So far, the elevators we’ve seen can typically hold 15 to 20 people at a time. However, the ‘Jio World Centre’ in Mumbai boasts a large elevator that can accommodate 200 to 250 people simultaneously. This has been recognized as the largest elevator in the world.
Luxurious Design and Comfort
Suspended by 18 pulleys and 9 cables, this elevator weighs approximately 17 tons. Its record-breaking dimensions measure 25.78 square meters, roughly the size of a room. Inside, it feels nothing short of a palace. Comfortable sofas have been installed for seating, and the floor is elegantly covered in marble. The elevator is adorned with a stunning chandelier shaped like a lotus, adding to its grandeur. It features 5 stops and operates at 1 meter per second speed.
Stunning Views and Modern Features
The elevator is designed with a glass wall and a four-panel glass door, offering clear views of the beautiful Mumbai skyline. Additionally, it is equipped with two display screens that provide news and updates about the building.
This impressive elevator has been installed by the Finnish company KONE.
