“Most of Bollywood filmy biraadari believes in religious superstition and they go out of the way both off-screen and on-screen to pray to the almighty divine deities. Among the top religious iconic Gods, is Lord Ganesha who is known to ‘remove obstacles and ensure a smooth success ahead’. Which is why several A-list Hindi blockbuster movies have a song dedicated to Ganesha-aarti or Ganapati visarjan as an auspicious omen ( shagun) to thwart any ‘buri nazar’ and to storm the box-office. If the Ganesha-centric movie song becomes a chart-buster, it adds hugely to the sentimental ‘repeat and recall value’ of the movie. The Ganesha song is also prominently played at the ‘saarvajanik’ ( public) Ganesh pandals where lakhs of devotees throng for ‘darshan’. For instance, the song ‘Devaa Ho Devaa—Ganpati Deva’ is an evergreen popular Ganesha-dedicated film song, even today, although the movie released ( 43 years ago) way back in 1981”.
