Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan is celebrating his 54th birthday today. Saif Ali Khan, a prominent figure in Hindi cinema, is the son of renowned cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and acclaimed actress Sharmila Tagore. His ancestors were Nawabs of the Pataudi princely state. Saif's first marriage was to Amrita Singh, who he wed in 1991. The couple had two children together, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. However, after 13 years of marriage, Saif and Amrita divorced in 2004.

While Saif continues to make headlines with his upcoming films, Amrita Singh often garners attention for her daughter, Sara Ali Khan. Despite being approximately 12 years older than Saif, Amrita and Saif's relationship blossomed into marriage. Unfortunately, their marriage did not last. In an interview, Saif revealed that post-divorce, Amrita demanded ₹5 crore from him, but at that time, he was unable to pay the full amount.

Saif and Amrita first met when Amrita was an established Bollywood star, and Saif was about to make his film debut with Bekhudi, directed by Rahul Rawail. As Rahul was a close friend of Amrita, he arranged for a photo-shoot with the film's cast, which is where Saif and Amrita first encountered each other.

During the photoshoot, Saif attempted to place his hand on Amrita's shoulder, which she noticed. Although this was not love at first sight, it sparked mutual attraction between them. Following the photo-shoot, Saif was so eager to see Amrita again that he called her to invite her to dinner. Amrita, surprised by the invitation, declined to go out but invited Saif over to her home for dinner. Saif promptly accepted the invitation. When he arrived, Amrita had no makeup on, which only made Saif more drawn to her. However, he was also aware that she had not prepared for his visit.

As their relationship developed, Saif and Amrita shared intimate details of their lives with each other and even kissed, leading to their realization of deep affection. Despite the age difference, their relationship was unaffected by it. The decision to marry was significant for Amrita, as she was a star and Saif was still struggling to establish himself in the industry.

Their life together seemed to be going well until Saif met Italian model Rosa during a foreign trip. Saif's relationship with Rosa, who eventually moved to Mumbai with him, contributed to the growing distance between Saif and Amrita. Unable to tolerate the situation any longer, Amrita filed for divorce in 2004. Saif's relationship with Rosa also ended soon after.

In an interview, Saif disclosed, "Amrita demanded ₹5 crore in the divorce settlement. I gave her ₹2.5 crore, and I am paying the remaining amount in installments. Additionally, I provide Amrita with ₹1 lakh per month until our son Ibrahim turns 18."
