Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle had a wonderful musical chemistry, but there was an incident that led Kishore Kumar to declare that he would never sing with Asha Bhosle again. Yes, you read that right, and this story was revealed by Asha Ji herself in an interview.

Kishore Kumar's Tiff with Asha Bhosle During Recording

The incident took place during the recording of the song “Meri Soni Meri Tammana” from the 1973 film Yaadon Ki Baarat. While Kishore Kumar was recording his part of the song, Asha Ji felt that he was not singing it properly. She told him that he needed to redo the recording because he was singing off-key. Kishore Kumar was deeply offended by this and remarked, "You talk too much."

After that, he went to the music director R.D. Burman (Pancham Da) and announced that he would never sing with Asha Bhosle again. Pancham Da, however, managed to convince Kishore Kumar to finish the recording session.

"I’m Like That, A Bit Crazy"

After being persuaded by Pancham Da, Kishore Kumar returned to the studio for another rehearsal. During this session, there was a noticeable silence between him and Asha Ji. They did not speak to each other. However, when it was time to record the final take, Kishore Kumar realized that he was indeed singing off-key. He glanced at Asha Ji, but she was looking the other way.

Since Kishore Kumar considered Asha Bhosle like his younger sister, he teasingly called out to her, saying, "What are you looking at over there? Tell me if I'm singing badly." Asha Ji, in a playful tone, responded, "If I tell you that you're singing badly, you get upset. If I don’t tell you, you scold me!"

At that, Kishore Kumar smiled and affectionately said, “It’s okay, Asha. I’m like that, a bit crazy.” With that lighthearted exchange, the song was recorded with laughter and joy, and their performance became one of the most beloved tracks of all time.
