At the release function of the ghazal album Nayaab Lamhe at Hotel Sofitel, Gulzar Saab asserted that physical appearance is very necessary for an album to grow gradually because you just cannot go on downloading the songs on the digital format and sit down to listen to them.
“It should be possible for you sit and spend an entire evening just listening to one shaayar, if possible. Though Pankaj Udhas suggested that we should title the album as Lamhe, I suggested to them that we should title it Nayaab Lamhe since Pankaj’s daughter’s name is Nayaab and he agreed immediately. His daughter Nayaab is looking after the marketing of his music label Velvet Voices.
"It is sad that the non film music space has shrunk rapidly today because of the influx of digital music and also the emergence of the footpathiya music which has led to very less discerning audiences. At one time, believe it or not but non film music used to occupy at least 70% of the space and was almost parallel to film music space”.
The album Nayaab Lamhein consists of six different ghazals namely Baarish, Na Jaane Kahan, Raat Who Ruki Nahin, Woh Din Gaye, Dekho Ahista Chalo and Jalan Gar. Pankaj Udhas himself has scored the music for the album and Deepak Pandit has arranged the music besides playing the violin for the album. The music programming and also guitar solos have been performed by Sanjay Jaipurwale.
